IGT and Electrosport Poker Mem.ory Fix
Loyal Kuhn
CAS Limited/Coin Amusement Service

PROBLEM #1
Loss of memory causes the game to be much
too liberal. This can be caused by the loca-
tion unplugging the game overnight, some-
one turning off the switch on the cabinet, a
weak or dead battery, or removing the PC
board from the game for service.
PROBLEM #2
The nickel cadmium battery leaks corrosive
fluid onto the PC board causing foil and
component damage.
PROBLEM #3
The game sometimes fails while it is being
played. The player may falsely claim that he
had a large number of credits at the time of
the failure, for which he would like a refund.
SOLUTION
Our need to solve these problems on our own
machines inspired this solution. All these
problems are associated with the battery
back-up memory circuit. We developed a
plug-in memory module that completely
replaces the 2111 memory chip, and the
nickel cadmium battery.
Instead of the 8 hour or so memory life of the
original circuit, this new module's memory
life may reach 10 to 15 years, or beyond, on
its replaceable internal battery.
This module can be unplugged and moved to
a like game, with data intact. This allows
viewing of the last screen played, and it also
transfers the odds data.
AVAILABILITY
We are now making our 2111NV SUPER
MEMORY MODULE available to our fellow
operators. If your having these type prob-
lems and you need the solution, call us. For
more information, please refer to our ad in
the Marketplace section in this issue.

SP1016.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
Secondary +Svdc capacitors (before L2
opened up). These caps are 2200 Mfd/
16vdc. Their numbers are C37, C38, C39
and C40.
PROBLEM
Low to no +Svdc. Primary Transistor Q2
tests good.
CURE
Test and/ or replace above mentioned caps
with equivalent values.

aito Operation Wolf Gun Problenis: Part 2

PROBLEM
Well, here we go again. It seems that we have
developed another gun problem with the
Wolf. This defect is in the gun stop, which is
supposed to prevent the gun from turning
any further than the stops allow. This is
accomplished by a cam that is mounted with
the big nut (Ml2) on the bottom of the gun
shaft (the one that fell off in last months
article). The cam is similar to a lock in that
it is round with two flat sides to prevent it
from turning on the shaft, which is also
round with two flat sides. (see Figure #1)
SOLUTION
The only solution for the cam is to reguarly
check to make sure the "self locking nut" is
tight. The only remedy for the cam and stop
posts is to replace them, if you can get the
parts from your distributor. (By the way, my
grenade buttons, that I talked about last
month, are still on backorder.)

CAUSE
When the gun is turned to it's limits, it is
restricted by a stop post on each side. (see
Figure #2); The problem occurs when the
gun is jammed into the stops. Evidently the
shaft is harder than the cam because it cuts
.A away the flat sides allowing the gun to be
W turned 180 degrees. (We know what then
happens to the wiring!). If you're lucky
enough for the cam to hold out, then watch
out for the stop posts to fall apart.
Figure 2
Unless we can get better quality replacement
parts then originally manufactured, then
this will not be a permanent fix, but a
recurring problem.
SPECIAL MENTION
I would also like to thank STARflECH Jour-
nal and BAM Engineering for the Electronic
Bulletin Board System (BBS) that they have
originated and maintain. It's worth more
than words can say! No kidding, a lot of good
valuable info is here. Keep up the good
(excellent!) work.
