PROBLEM
System One (Road Blaster, Indiana Jones,
Marble Madness and Road Runner) all have
a common electrical problem. The Ampen"ol
slip-on connectors to the five volt fuse, bum
with age.
SUBJECT
MC-2000-R Nanao monitor vertical deflec-
tion problem.
SYMPTOM
The nice pink Amp connectors turn brown,
as they bum, and are easily spotted. (The
pink connectors are a nice 1980's color!)
.
SOLUTION
The cure is easy. Solder in a new fuse holder,
probably every three years.
Leland Super
Dodge Ball Lock-Up
SYMPTOM
Loss or collapse of vertical deflection that
varies with the screen control, or begins to
return to normal when the logic boards
display bright characters.
SOLUTION
Replace C523 (47 uf @ 50V). It is located
under the high voltage cage near the flyback
transformer.

PROBLEM
PROBLEM
The ball gets stuck on top of the clear plastic
above the White House.
Super Dodge Ball video game will freeze or
intermittently reset after warm-up.

Nanao Monitor
Deflection Problem
SOLUTION
Solder a 1 K, 1 / 4 watt resistor between pins
10 and 16 on IC located at Ul51. Solder
another lK, 1/4 watt resistor between pins
6 and 16 on IC located at Ul52.
NOTE
This fix is necessary for game boards
shipped before March 9, 1988.
SOLUTION
Call Data East Field Service Department at
1-800 KICKERS and request a Secret Service
Ball Trap Modification Kit.
NOTE
This only affects a few games. The majority of
games have had this modification installed
at the factory.

Bally Midway 7533 DAC Failures
Arnie Aarstad
Bally Midway Service Dept.
Franklin Park, Illinois
SUBJECT
Premature failure of the 7533 DAC's on the
sound boards. During extensive research on
the sound board's Digital to Analog con-
verter circuit, we have discovered a transient
condition which may result in premature
failure of this part.
CAUSE
This condition is due to overstressed metali-
zation related to pin 1 on this chip. The
situation occurs on power-down when the
Vee begins to fall and reaches about 1.5
volts. At this time, the voltage on pin 1
exceeds Vee for a fraction of a second. The
DAC is not designed to withstand this con-
dition.
CURE
Remove the 4 7uF capacitor connected to pin
1 of this chip. This will eliminate the tran-
sient condition on the circuit, and testing
indicates that this removal has no negative
effect on the overall operation of the circuit.
To remove the correct capacitor use the following guide .
