SYMPTOM
Upon initial power up of the game, the game
will play properly but it will have no sound.
Turning the game off and back on again will
bring the sound back.
CAUSE
The Motorola CPU at location D /E 8 is
coming out of reset ahead of the Yamaha
2151 sound chip at location C6.
-
SOLUTION
In the reset circuit, replace the 10 uf capaci-
tor at C66 with a 4 7 uf @ 16V electrolytic
capacitor. This will lengthen the reset time to
the CPU so that both the CPU and the sound
chip will come out of reset together.

Cleaning Rowe Changers:

LESS DOWN TIME/HIGHER EARNINGS
A clean coin changer will reward you with
smooth operation and less down time.
Which means to you, the operator, higher
earnings in whichever area the changer is
meant to supply.
TRANSPORT ASSEMBLY
We'll start with the bill acceptor transport
assembly: The materials required for clean-
ing are cotton swabs and a bottle of isopropyl
alcohol 91 % by volume, available in larger
drug stores. (Note: Regular rubbing alcohol
is 70% by volume and will leave a film when
dry). Cleaning time can vary depending on
the extent of deposit. Avg time is 15 minutes.
PROCEDURE
To clean, unplug the two connectors (and if
necessary use a 1 / 4 inch nut driver to
unfasten the cable holder), then slide the
transport forward, unlatch it and remove it
from the latch shaft (long pin). Then pull out
the spring loaded knobs at the rear of the
transport and remove the top part of the
transport. Clean the six small wheels and
also the magnetic head, while changing
swabs often. Reassemble and be certain that
the top part is seated properly. That is all
there is to it!
PROCEDURE
Dump out the coins in a bucket and check
for foreign objects. You will have to remove
fifteen quarter-inch screws to get a side
panel off the hopper. Place the removed
screws on the bench with respect to their
location so as to put back correctly the
different types in the right place later. It is
less difficult to put the left hand panel back
on, so take this side off. (This is the side
without a metal tab sticking out of the slot).
Be careful to keep track of the compression
spring!
-
With side panel off, use a long screwdriver
with a cloth over the blade to clear the tracks
of gunk. When you think it's clean, try some
coins in the hopper and turn the thrust
washer by hand to see if the coins travel clear
to the top. When fully clean, place the side
panel back on, starting at the bottom. Use a
screwdriver to pry down the black square
and to press down the compression spring
while lining up the holes. Now watch how
fast a line of people can get their change!

HOPPER ASSEMBLY
Cleaning the hopper assembly: If your
changer runs longer than a few seconds after
a one dollar vend while fully loaded, it's time
to clean the hoppers. You can remove and
clean them one at a time even while the
changer is in service.
