PROBLEM:
Final scene too difficult.
SYMP.OCM:
Data East's KARNOV' gane has been very
:[X)pular with players due to its various
strategies, fast action and nulti-faceted
gane play. However, advanced players who
have successfully battled their way to the
final scene in level 9 have confronted a
Wizard that is seemingly too difficult to
defeat. This can have a negative inpact on
the long term earning :[X)Wer of this gane.
DETAILS:
The program update consists of two 27512
type Eprorns that replace existing Eprorns
on the KARNOV' pcb set. The Eprorns are
located on the top pcb in locations 16J
and 20J. The old version Eprorns are
labeled "DN8-5" and "DNll-5." They nust be
replaced with the new version Eprorns which
are labeled "DN8-6" and "DNll-6"
respectively.
Data East strongly recomrends installing
the update in all of your KAmov ganes.
The update is available from your Data
Fast distributor on an exchange basis.
Request your updates using Data East Part
Nunber 960-0009-01.
SOLlJl'ION:
To alleviate this situation, Data East has
made available a program update to ease
the difficulty of corrpleting this scene.
A It effectively lowers the anount of hits
• that the player nust land on the Wizard
and also makes the Wizard less aggressive.

PROBLEM:
contamination of air cylindar pistons can
cause down time on this rooney making
piece.
jjJ
CAUSE:
To solve this problem, one nust first look
at the cause. The air cylinder has an
upper hole which is exposed to
contamination.

SYMPJ.avl:
expert player can hit the pad with such
force that 20 pounds of vacuum can be
realized at the upper vent hole. This
vacuum can draw dirt into the cylinder
area. This dirt mixes with grease from the
piston seal and causes an abrasive mixture
that can wear down the piston "O" ring and
can cause cylinder scoring. (See Figure 1)
