M'iJA 1987 did not offer many new concepts
in merchandise/rederrption machines. I've
already written about the NEW YORK-NEW
YORK pusher by Crorrpton and the VOLCANO
center hole rotary by Fortuna. For my
purposes, these were the best prize games
shown. Here are some others which
operators may consider to add variety to
their locations:
SCCYI'TIE THE IDNKEY by Betson is a capsule
and/or egg vendor with a joke telling
ronkey that kids just can't resist. I've
been using this machine since July and it
has done very well, sometimes earning in
excess of $300/week. Don't forget it
dispenses an egg with each play so there
is a built in prize cost of 25%-33%
(depending on what kind of prizes you
choose). SCXYITIE tells over 30 different
jokes and has several random calls and
rovements prograrared into the attract
IOOde. The large capacity hopper is a plus
for the operator.

I think the people will play this game
over and over.
ICE, the makers of CHEXX HOCKEY, showed a
ticket dispensing skill game call~ .
MELTJXMN. The player operates a ring in a
vertical direction trying to keep i~ (the
ring) covering a radiation ball. This game
also isn't as easy as it looks, so players
will try it.
MATIN; GAME, also by Betson, is a must for
high trafficked locations~ You enter your
name and birthday along with those of your
mate or potential mate and a full page
compatability profile is printed. At a
dollar a play, this game will earn well.
Garces like this in the past have had
problems with the printer paper getting
jamrred. The MATI:t,l; GAME cuts the paper
before the customer can touch it, thereby
eliminating this problem. I'm going to
test a couple of these games real soon and•
report the results.

Next ronth I'll write about a very well
constructed basketball game by Vari..JJ'ech
called HOI' SHOI'S. Digital sound (operator
adjustable) is a feature of HOI' SHOI'S that
really inpressed me.
Kramer gave their SKILL OOZER a new look
by upgrading the playfield with a gold
mirrored surface and adding some new play
features. This update kit will, of course,
be free to all those SKILL OOZER owners
(please send me five). It can't make the
game any worse, so if you own a OOZER you
might as well update it. The kit certainly
makes the game look rore attractive. I'll
keep you posted as soon as I get my free
kits.
If you need rore information on any of
these games, you can call or write me at

Wedges/Ledges showed a high-tech game
called GRAVITATION which can be a
merchandising or ticket dispenser game.
The player tries, through joystick
operation, to skillfully maneuver a ball,
balanced between two parallel rods, to
travel a 4 foot distance without falling
through. It is rruch rore difficult than it
appears, but the concept is so simple that
all age players will enjoy giving this
game a try. If the prizes are worthwhile,
