5 Year Capacitor Clean-up

Electrohome G07's - Round 'em up!
Well pardner, I believe it's time to
corral all the Electrohome G07 rronitors
for their annual five year capacitor
change!
These rronitors are dropping like flies
now. If you want your rronitor to be
looking as good-as-new and trouble-free on
the route, you need to order a parcel full
of each of the capacitors listed below and
install them all at once when you have the
chassis out on the bench.
C511
47 microfarads at 160 vdc with radial
leads. When this cap bakes open you're on
A the down-and-out until you replace it.
W eauses the high voltage to come up then
shut down. CSll serves a critical function
of regulating the 125VOC B+ voltage.
C517
100 microfarads at 16vdc with radial
leads. This cap, along with C518, provides
the proper arrount of signal throughput in
the pincushion section. When these dry
out, the whole picture becomes real
hunkerjawed - you know, not rectangular.
C518
220 microfarads at 16vdc with radial
leads. See C517 description above. Don't
want to be repeatin' rr~self.

1 microfarad at 160vdc with radial leads.
Concerned with the width section.
Cl07
10 microfarads at 250vdc with radial
leads. This one's perched up on the neck
board and causes uneven intensity problems
when it goes bad, which is quite often.
Before you apply power to your recapped
chassis, check the correct polarity of the
caps or you might have a real blast
powering it up!

Further to Rayrrond Ross's note regarding
Williams S0V flipper coil problems in the
July '87 STAR-lrTECH JOURNAL, here's an
addition:
SYMPIDM:
Fuses blowing for no regular reason; game
occasionally jumps to diagnostic rrode
during play; while in test rrode, operating
a flipper will cause program to jU111p to
next test.
PROBLEM:
mentioned in July by Rayrrond Ross, a
broken diode on a coil can cause really
weird problems. An intermittent or broken
diode across a flipper coil will cause all
of the above and maybe more.

4.7 microfarads at SOvdc with radial
leads. Associated with the vertical
section. Not essential, but when the
chassis is out, why not replace it.
Probably bakes open due to the heat from
the vertical section.
Footnote: Diodes across coils and drop
target switches are subject to a lot of
vibration and should be regularly checked
for broken leads - i.e. breaks either frorr
their solder termination or from the
inside of the diode itself.

3.3 microfarads at 160vdc with radial
leads. Provides some filtering in the
vertical section.
This involves pulling the leads with
tweezers or long nose pliers. It is a
particular problem for drop targets on
PHAROAH, BIACK KNIGHI', SPACE SHUT.I'LE and
mIB'I'.
