Since Fl4 'IOMCAT production commenced,
Williams has made several improvenents to
ensure the quality performance, game
playability, and reliability.
IMPROVEMENI'S INCLUDE:
1. 'Ihe bK> upper flipper coils have been
changed to FL11722 (green label). These
coils provide a longer life span for the
upper targets, along with better
playability.
2. A change in the lighting to alleviate
p:>ssible transistor failure (Q42).
a. Renove the three Phillips screws
left, center and right, shown in
Figure 1) that mount the top loop
plastic assenbly. Remove the top
loop plastic assenbly from the
playfield.
b. Unsolder the wires from the bulb
socket (a.FAR, Figure 1) near the
"C" in CAT. Push the four wires
through the playfield. Resolder the
two orange wires for a proper
electrical connection. Tape ends of
soldered orange wires with
electrical tape. Separately tape
the ends of the white/violet wires.
wire to the bottom tab. Using a
1/4" socket wrench, renove the wood
screw that xoounts this "A" bulb
bracket to the playfield. Renpve
the bulb, socket and bracket.
d. Unsolder the wires from the bulb
socket (RED 1, Figure 1) near the
"O" in TOM. Push the three wires
through the playfield. Resolder the
two orange wires, and tape this
soldered connection. Separately
tape each white/violet wire with
electrical tape. Using a 1/4"
socket wrench, renove wood screw
that xoounts the "O" bulb bracket
to the playfield. Renove the L~lb,
socket and bracket. Clleck that the
wiring connections now match the
"AFTER" view in Figure 2.

c. Unsolder the wires from the bulb
socket (RED 2, Figure 1) near the
"A" in CAT. Solder the yellow
jtm1per wire to the top tab of "C"
bulb socket; solder the white/black
e. On the underside of the playfield,
locate the lamp resistor board
(near the Right Eject Hole
microswitch). Unsolder the
white/black wire from the I.AMP
terminal of the board (Figure 3,
left side of the "BEFORE" view).
Resolder the white/black wire to
the white wire (LAMP terminal) on
the right side of board. Verify
that the wiring now matches the
"AFI'ER" view of Figure 3.

3. A precaution to prevent binding of the
diverter gate asserrbly. '!he necessary
parts to canplete this can be obtained
from your authorized Williams
Distributor. The two part mmbers are
03-8042 (plastic washer) and 20-8712-18
CE-ring clip) .
a. 'Ibis procedure puts more pllD'lger
length inside the diverter coil in
the "rest" position. Locate Tab c.
Bend the tab inward with pliers,
pressing the Diverter Gate, E,
toward the right side of the game.
Bend Tab C until the gate is flush
with the gate "port" in the plastic
trough.
b. Locate Anti-magnetic PllD'lger Stop
o. Bend the plunger stop forward
until Gate Fis flush with the gate
"port", and does not interfere with
ball travel in the plastic trough.
Use of preventive maintenance to
prevent binding is recamended.
Clean off areas A and B to prepare
these surfaces for lubrication.
c ~ '!he next procedure prevents
magnetic binding of the Diverter
Gate Asserrbly. Reoove E-ring, N.
Reroove Pin J from the pllD'lger
pivot asserrbly. Replace steel
Washer L with the Plastic Washer.
Reasserrble the plunger pivot
assenbly by pushing Pin J up
through the Bell Crank K, plastic
Washer L, PllD'lger M, and secure the
asserrbly by reattaching the E-ring
