scheduled to appear in the first screen is
displayed. With the switch "OFF", all 13
"Bad Guys" are presented at the beginning
of each play.
Because of time oonstraints and some lack
of corrrnunication there are a few
discrepancies in the GUN.Sf,()KE Installation
Manual.
First of all, rrany of the wire oolors in
the rranual do not match the actual wire
oolors of the harness. I suggest that you
check the harness against the rranual. The
following changes also apply:

SEXX>ND PIAYER HIGH SCORE INPUTS
PROBLEM: On some of the first boards to be
shipped, the second player High Score
initials can not be input with the first
player controls.
SOLUI'ION: Connect the second player (2P)
control inputs to the first player (lP)
control inputs.
Because the edge oonnector locations are
directly across the board from each other,
it is only necessary to install a small
jumper across the two flow through holes
directly behind each of the control edge
connector traces (ie: lP-UP & 2P-UP,
lP-ro-JN & 2P-ro-JN, etc.) .

CURE: A l0OK ohm, 1/ 4 watt resistor has
been connected from the +5 volt buss to
pin 12 of Ul (6803 CPU).
POOBLEM: There are 2 configurations of
"1942" PCBs. On the type with a small
daughter board attached to each of the
main boards, a nurrber of jumper wires have
been installed on the solder side of the
top board. '.lbese wires can easily become
disconnect.e a and should be the first thing
checked when troubleshooting for any
malfunction.
NJTE: This resistor addition has
on all control boards containing
updated program and must be made
converting an earlier game (i.e.
Ball Chanp) to any newer game.

POOBLEM: When converting machJ.nes with old
style Wells Gardner nonitors (19K4600
Series) to Memetron's Ml\T Ml\NIA, the
picture is "washed out" with many lighter
colors appearing as white.
FIX: Use circuit shown below.
O)MMENI'S: Ceramic disk caps are fine.
If you use electrolitic or tantalum caps,
make sure the plus (+) side is toward the
logic board (as shown).
Wl'E: This fix is in addition to any sync
inversion (7404) schemes.

I will be conducting a seminar on the Do's
and Don'ts of conversions at the upcoming
A.C.M.E. show in Chicago and would
appreciate any tricks or tips that you in
the field might have come up with.
I will compile all of the suggestions that
I receive and send this list, along with a
list of all major garres and kits that have
come out within the last 5 years showing
nonitor and power requirements, to all of
you.
