THE BECKMAN
HD-100
Buil Tough
to Last
The HD-100, the Hardhat meter, is an
indispensible tool that has rugged
protection from mishaps and adverse
environments.
2000-Hour Continuous Battery Life
The common 9V transistor battery pro-
vides up to 2000 hours of continuous
operation, and up to 2 years of life under
typical use. For added convenience, the
decimal point blinks during the last ten
percent of battery life. Compared to
other multimeters with only 200 hours
typical use, Beckman meters save you
at least 10 battery replacements - a
real time and money saver for your
outdoor and indoor applications.
Easy-to-Use Single Selector Switch
One single selector switch makes the
instrument easier to use and saves time.
There is less chance of error because
you go directly to the function and range
you seek. In addition, there are no con-
fusing rows of pushbuttons or multiple
switches. You get a unique switch design
that is far more reliable and durable
than found in conventional VOMs.
lnsta-Ohms® Continuity Indicator
Now you can make continuity checks
with the speed and ease of an analog
meter. The lnsta-Ohms® Continuity
Indicator features an ohms symbol that
appears in the display the instant con-
tinuity is established with test leads.
The ohms sign is designed for easy
reading in bright daylight or low light
conditions.
Reliable 100% Factory Burn-In and
Computer Tested
To assure you of a reliable product - a
meter tough enough to go where you go
- Beckman performs a 100% burn-in of
each meter. Every function and range is
computer tested at the factory to assure
you of a meter that works the first time,
every time.

eliminate RF interference.
High Accuracy 22-Megohm Input
Impedance
This special feature reduces errors
commonly caused by circuit loading.
Increased measurement accuracy over
other comparable meters is achieved
by providing a high input impedance in
all DC voltage ranges.
Guaranteed Long-Term Accuracy
A highly stable band-gap reference
element and thin-film voltage divider
network guarantee the specified accu-
racy for a one-year minimum, without
calibration.
Fast and Accurate In-Circuit Diode
Transistor Test Function
You no longer need to search among
several ranges for semiconductor test

capability. This special test function
allows accurate measurements of for-
ward voltage drops across diode, LEDs,
and transistor junctions with 2mA of
"constant" test current. Semiconductor
junctions can also be measured while
in-circuit, with as little as 500 ohms
shunt resistance.
Completely Equipped to Handle
Your Toughest Jobs
Beckman delivers the HD-100 multi-
meter ready to work. Each unit comes
fully equipped with a 9V battery, safety-
designed test leads and operator's
manual.
Beckman Warranty
Beckman multimeters have been de-
signed for maximum reliability and
trouble-free operation. For this reason,
each instrument comes with a one-year
limited warranty under which Beckman
agrees thatif the instrument fails for any
reason whatsoever, except abuse,
Beckman will (at its election) repair or
replace the multimeter with a new or
reconditioned unit of equivalent quality.
The user must fill out and return the
warranty card as a condition precedent
to warranty coverage. Thereafter, the
user simply mails the unit back to the
factory or local authorized service center
with a check for $3.00 to cover postage
and handling. A new or reconditioned
instrument will then be returned to the
user, typically with only a one- or two-
day turnaround at the service center.
The Beckman HD-100 lists for $169.

G.E.
RECEIVES SUPERIOR SERVICE AWARD
T
he 6th Annual Convention of the Elec-
tronics Technicians Association, lnt'I.,
was the occasion for the presentation of a
special " Superior Service Award" to the
General Electric Company.
Mr. William England, manager of G.E.'s
TECH-LINE service in Kansas City, received
the plaque marking the action at the ETA
Awards Banquet (Surfside Holiday Inn in
Clearwater, Florida, May 25th). Mr. Jesse
Leach, CET, a past chairman of ETA and the
current ETA Shopowner Division Chairman
(L) made the presentation.
A portion of the engraving on the award
plaque is as follows: "Recognizing Superior,
Knowledgeable, Courteous and Prompt
assistance to all Technicians in need."
ETA cited the GE TECH-LINE service
because the four TECH-LINE centers in the
U.S. provide a toll-free troubleshooting assis-
tance service, not only to their own G.E.
employees, but to any independent service
(or appliance) technician who is having diffi-
culty with a G.E. produced product. Because
the technicians manning the TECH-LINE
phones can and do become familiar with the
various models and the routine (and not so
routine) problems, they save technicians
untold thousands of hours of otherwise lost
time.
Dick Glass, ETA's President, said: "Since
'Tough-Dog'
troubleshooting
problems
repressent the single most difficult problem
for an electronics technician who repairs TVs,
VCRs and other home products, the TECH-
LINE service represents a most important
solution that is directly and financially
important to technicians as well as the public."
