HELP!
WILLIAMS GORGAR SOLENOID PROBLEM
Dear Stanffech Journal,
I'm writing to ask you for some help on a problem that has been plaguing
me for the past six months or more. It has to do with a Williams Gorgar that
blows the solenoid fuse, or burns up solenoid coils. The coils that burn up are
the 3-target reset coils (Gor & Gar) and the saucer-hole kicker.
I've tried the following things with no effect
• Replaced the Solenoid Driver Board
• Replaced the MPU Board
• Replaced the batteries, cleaned contacts for same
• Replaced the PIA on the Solenoid Board
• Checked all Supply Voltages from Supply
The game occasionally "locks up" when the ball is trapped on the magnet, .
repeating the message from three to six times. The coils bum up in the non-
operated condition, indicating low leakage current, but it is so intermittent,
occurring about once every two or three weeks. I've checked the whole
playfield wiring, and even called Williams' hot line and two distributors'
repair people - no help.
This letter was sent to us by Les Foggin, 615 N. Milwaukee Avenue,
Glenview, IL 60025 . .if you have any i,iformation regarding this problem
or can offer any assistance, please contact Les.
