POWER SUPPLY COMMENTS:
The power supply is fairly similar to the multivoltage ones being used by most manufacturers.
It is not a switching power supply as was formerly used by Taito, which should be good news to
anyone attempting repairs. There are 4 voltage indicator LEDs which can be helpful, but as
always, the voltage should be checked with a meter even if the corresponding LED is on.
In addition to the +5 volt and+ 12 volt adjustment pots, there are also current fold back pots
(identified on power supply as +SI (Rl8) and+ 121 (R25). These pots are adjusted and sealed by

the factory and should not have to be touched. Any attempt to readjust these pots should be followed
by measuring and resetting the+ 5 and/or+ 12 volts.
LOGIC BOARDS/HARDWARE - There are three boards located on the back door of the cabinet.

HARDWARE COMMENTS:
As can be seen, the board set and hardware used in "QIX" are somewhat similar to that of Williams
"DEFENDER". Thesameprocessor(6809)andalargenumberof4116 display RAMs with a
separate PROM and sound board are the principle similarities.
However, the use of three microprocessors gives this system great flexibility and makes it quite
unique. Only a portion of what this board system can do is used in "QIX". Later games may
incorporate even more spectacular graphics and audio. (Provisions for speech are already
incorporated in PROM and audio boards.)
MONITORS-Themonitorsusedin "QIX" are the same asthoseusedinmostU.S.
manufactured games. They include:
