Problem:
Dim flash on "Flash Gordon" strobe
unit.
Cause:
Open capacitor (C2) 22ufd 250vdc.
(See figure 1 below.)
Procedure:
With an ohmmeter on xlOO scale,
measure across C 2 to see if it discharges
and charges by alternately reversing
the leads. Ifno action, do the same to
C3 and you'll see the difference. As of
now I have not seen C 3 go bad; only
C2. But I'm sure it can. Either way,
you can use this test by comparing
meter readings vice-versa.

A Regular Monthly Feature Technically Outlining a Newly Released Game
GOTILIEB'S "HAUNTED HOUSE"
BY JOE CONNOR, ACTIVE AMUSEMENT, PHILADELPHIA, PA
"Haunted House" is Gottlieb's latest pin. It incorporates 3
playfields and single ball action utilizing the "System 80" electronic
design first used in "Spiderman". There have been slight variations
and additions, however, to accommodate the many added game
features.

The control board is completely interchangeable with all Gottlieb
games since "James Bond". With slight modifications it can be used
on System 80 games prior to " James Bond" (those using two game
roms). There are three game proms in circulation; these include
#669, #669-1, #669-2. Game Prom #669 is used on sample
games. No other prom may be substituted (see Gottlieb service
bulletin in S•TJ March ' 82). Game prom #669-1 is used in most
current production games. Game prom #669-2 contains a correction
in software to prevent the tilt duration from randomly lasting
anywhere between 5 seconds and a minute.

The power supply is also directly interchangeable with all System 80
games to date. It provides all necessary DC voltages for the board
set. Input AC and unregulated DC inputs are provided by bottom
board. Voltage present indicator LEDs DS l (+I 2VDC) and DS2
(+SVDC) are located on power supply.
