Wrong Selections and Displays "476-480" Rock-Ola
by Chuck Maier
The opto-board of your Rock-Ola is responsible for informing the logic board
of the exact location of the record magazine. Any fault on this board can
cause the juke box to play the wrong record and it may even display a totally
different number.
The board is located at the left side of the magazine and is mounted over the
encoder disc. The encoder disc revolves with the magazine and as its slots
pass through the light path, the photo transistor will conduct. This causes the
LED on the opto-board to flash and at the same time, transmit pulses to the
logic board, which also causes the timer LED of this board to flash.
Major problems on the opto-board have tended to be physical. Poor solder
and/or the weight of the connectors and wire harness have caused the leads
to break loose at the board. Beefing up the solder at this location will cure the
problem. Keep in mind that the connectors on this board are small and do not
force them. If they do not mate, find out why.
Atari "Asteroids" and "Missile Command"
IC Part Number Change
There are three (3) 74LS32's specified for locations N6, 89, and MS on the
main logic board for "ASTEROIDS". You may find the-s e devices marked
CO14362. These devices are 7 4LS32's, but were originally purchased for
another application and consequently were assigned a different part number.
At location J-7 on the main logic board for "Missile Command", you may find
the same part number in place of a 7 4LS32.

EXTERNAL (AUXILIARY) SOUND SOURCES
Several customers have asked Rowe how to connect a relay to the " R-84" to
transfer speakers to another sound source when the phonograph is not
playing. The accompanying modified schematic diagram shows how this can
be accomplished.
NOTE:
