MR. FELDER

R. C. ROLFING, PRESIDENT OF NPMA SPEAKS
FORCEFULLY ON NATIONAL VALUE OF MUSIC
We had expected to
have a regular formal
message for the Con-
vention from Paul S.
Felder, I'res. of the
XAMM. but are.dis-
appointed on account
of h i s unfortunate
s e v e r e illness. Mr.
Eelder has been in a
hospital for several
weeks with such a
serious illness that his
family a n d friends
have been very fear-
ful. But we all know
lhat a message from
him would be a kindly
constructive one from
a real American busi-
nessman and patriot.
We all hope that Mr.
Felder will soon be re-
stored to full health.
As President of the National Piano Manufacturers Association
of America, it is again a privilege to welcome the music merchants
of the nation to the Annual Convention. Music is a morale builder
in times of stress and strain, such as this nation is experiencing
now. Anything that is done to interfere with our musical activities
is definitely harmful to the nation. There is sufficient evidence
right now that what this nation needs in its schools, churches,
army camps, cantonments, community centers, etc., is music and
more music.
— PROGRAM —
Tuesday, July 29th

the Exhibits. Register early and Re Sure To Wear Your Badge.
Wednesday, July ?>Qtli

The members of the NPMA stand readv to do their part in com-
pleting the present national defense program. Some of our mem-
bers are already actively doing defense work in their plants. ()ur
members and many music merchants are also cooperating with the
service branches of the Government by supplying pianos to army
camps and cantonments all over the nation. We have letters from
army camp commanders commending us for this action. ()ur pre-
diction is that within another year there will be hundreds of pianos
used by the service branches of the Government. The greatest con-
tribution, however, that this industry can make is to continue to
organize and promote the musical activities of the entire nation.
The fiscal year just closed has been a successful one, not only
in the number of pianos actually manufactured, but in the educa-
tional and promotional program which the Association has spon-
sored throughout the country. Our Association is becoming more
and more a working organization for the purpose of disseminating
information to the music merchants of the country, and of promot-
ing musical activities that are so vital to our nation.
The objective of our Association is to serve the trade and the
nation in a constructive way, not only by building more and better
pianos, but also by continuing to perfect the other activities which
the Association has undertaken during the past few years.
