SAN ANTONIO MUSIC COMPANY
BIG SALES MEETING
HOLDS
When Isaac Rledsoe. distinguished music merchant and presi-
dent of the San Antonio Music Company, learned that three rep-
resentatives of the Wurlitzer Company were to he in San Antonio
the latter part of January, he immediately called a general sales
meeting of all the key people of his organization. So when Everett
Rothschild. Wurlitzer Assistant Sales Manager. Ralph W. Sperry,
Wurlitzer Chief Piano Technician, and John McDonald, Wurlitzer
Regional Director, arrived in town they were invited to participate
in the sales meeting which followed an elaborate banquet at the
St. Anthony Hotel.
Besides the various department heads, sales force and head
teachers <>l the San Antonio Store, the managers of the various
branch stores of the company were in attendance.
The meeting was conducted by Mr. Rledsoe and Paul Cagle.
(ieneral Manager. During their opening remarks both expressed
their thanks to the members of their organization for the excep-
tionally line record achieved in 1040. Then plans were outlined
for the coming year.
After the general business discussion the three Wurlitzer rep-
resentatives were called upon to talk about the merits of Wurlitzer
Pianos and Accordions.
The outcome of the meeting was highly successful. This is
obviously confirmed in the following excerpt from a letter received
by Mr. Rothschild after he had returned to DeKalb. This letter
was written by General Manager Paul Cagle.
Mr. Cagle s Letter
"I do wish to say for all the members of our organization, and
T have heard many expressions of same, that everyone of us
thoroughly enjoyed your visit and the great amount of personal
benefit which we received from the splendid constructive talks
by you. Ralph Sperry. and John McDonald. I know everyone
finished the evening with a much more intelligent idea of Wur-
litzer pianos and their tremendous sales possibilities.
"With the many advanced ideas in Wurlitzer piano construc-
tion, their many exclusive patented features, plus the beautiful
styling of your complete line, it was not a difficult task for the
San Antonio Music Company to more than double our retail
sales volume on this particular line of pianos in 1940 as compared
to 1939. We feel, in the merchandizing of Wurlitzer pianos, that
we can always look forward with confidence to the ultimate in
piano construction, beauty of tone and of case design. This makes
for a very secure feeling on our part for the future as well as the
present merchandising possibilities of these instruments.
"We had two of our stenographers take shorthand notes of your
splendid presentation of the Wurlitzer piano and also the very
fine talk on construction by Ralph Sperry. We have had copies
of same typed for each member of our sales organization and we
shall review the many sales points we received in our sales meet-
ings during the coming months. As members of the National
Association of Music Merchants and in the sincere interest of
piano merchandising, we trust that all Wurlitzer dealers have had
or may have the benefit of the knowledge and experience from
you gentlemen who guide the manufacture and sales program of
Wurlitzer instruments.
"It is always a pleasure to us to receive a visit from your re-
gional director, John McDonald. His knowledge of and enthusi-
asm for Wurlitzer products are as 'catching as the flu' and have
been of inestimable help to us at all times.
"As a result of this visit from you, Ralph Sperry, and John
McDonald, we herewith give you our I.O.U. for increased Wur-
litzer sales for the year 1941."
