HADDORFF PIANOS WILL STILL BE
MADE IN ROCKFORD
Continued manufacture of the Haddorff piano in Rockford
was announced by C. G. Conn, Ltd. of Elkhart, Indiana, on
November 18th when they told of their plans for the continued
production of this famous piano.
The Conn company purchased the entire capital stock of
the Haddorff company, its scales, patterns, patent rights, and
trade marks from Consolidated Industries, Inc. some weeks
ago, omitting only the actual building and machinery of the
company. A new location on Railroad Avenue and 9th Street
has been leased from the Rockford Chair and Furniture com-
pany for the new home of the Haddorff piano.
Guy W. Deetz, a director of the Chamber of Commerce and
local distributor of Haddorff pianos for many years, and Carl
Haddorff, in charge of Haddorff production since his father's
death in 1928, with the cooperation of the Chamber of Com-
merce and development bureau officials, launched the success-
ful campaign to keep the factory in Rockford.
The entire piano manufacturing process will be carried
out at the Rockford Chair and Furniture Company factory
into which the Haddorff production was being moved from
the Harrison Avenue plant where it has continued to be oper-
ated by the Conn company for several weeks. A considerable
expansion of production is anticipated at the new plant, mak-
ing possible the continuance of large employment.
It was announced that the same workers previously em-
ployed in manufacturing the Haddorff line would be contin-
ued. Mr. Haddorff, who has grown up in the business founded
by his father, will continue in charge of production, and P. E.
Mason, for many years a resident of Rockford and sales man-
ager of the Haddorff Piano Company, will continue his re-
sponsibility for the promotion and sale of Haddorff pianos,
with headquarters at 630 South Wabash Avenue, Chicago.
FRANK FREIMANN
MAGNAVOX VICE PRESIDENT SURVEYS
PACIFIC COAST
Frank Freimann, Vice President of Magnavox and General
Manager of their radio-phonograph operations, has just re-
turned from a three weeks visit to Magnavox dealers on the
Pacific Coast During the trip Mr. Freimann held dealer meet-
ings in discussions of the new Magnavox line and also worked
on the sales floors of many of the dealers in order to gain first
hand knowledge of local sales conditions and product re-
quirements.
He reports the same enthusiasm for radio-phonographs in
the west as that which has been so positive throughout the
rest of the country. He states that in general the radio-phono-
graphs are being sold only to lovers of music and these people
are turning more and more to the better quality instruments
in order to obtain the life-like reproduction now possible.
Particularly gratifying was the whole-hearted reception by
lovers of music and fine furniture of the Magnavox models
incorporating the exclusive Duosonic speaker and the cabinet
designs which completely conceal the fact that the cabinet
houses a radio-phonograph combination.
