NEW POPULAR PIANO FOLIO BY CARL FISCHER, INC.
v With the sale of pianos increasing, dealers will find piano
folios greatly aiding the further sale of pianos throughout the
country. Carl Fischer, Inc. reports an increased gross volume
in the sale of piano music, indicating that the piano is finding
its way back into the home. Carl Fischer's new piano folio,
LET US HAVE MUSIC for the Piano, which was prepared
by Maxwell Eckstein, in response to a type of popular de-
mand, has, in the fortnight of its release, gone through its
first edition. The popularity of this new folio is first due to
the very interesting, yet simple arrangements of the seventy-
four melodies included in this folio, and, secondly, to the
choice of the material which lists such well-liked classics as
Liebestraume, Song of India, None But the Lonely Heart,
Tales from the Vienna Woods, The Old Refrain, Two Guitars,
and many other attractive piano solo numbers.
There is considerable optimism at Carl Fischer's in this
increasing sign of renewed interest in the piano.
GRACE MOORE
Grace Moore, the little Tennessee choir singer who has
come to know the entrances of some of the proudest opera
houses of the world, sang befora an audience of scores of
thousands at the Grant Park Band Shell Concert, Chicago,
on Monday evening, September 2nd. She was supported by
the Chicago Opera Orchestra under the direction of Maurice
Abravanel The enthusiasm of the vast crowd was unlimited
as Miss Moore threw her whole spirit into her songs. The
orchestra played with such an infectious quality that every
one was thrilled. This was the last of the 101 Free Concerts
given in Grant Park during the summer. It has been a most
successful season and the programs have been enjoyed by
countless thousands.
CHARLES SPIVAK, FAMOUS TRUMPETER
Above is a picture of Charles Spivak in action. He is one
of America's finest trumpeters and is the leader of his own
band. We see him here giving a demonstration in the store
of the Lazarus Music Center, Martin Band Instrument dealer
in Columbus, Ohio. It is easy to see how popular Mr. Spivak
is by noting the size and attention of the group listening to
his program. Such programs before crowds of customers are
of real interest and vital value to the retail merchants whose
stores he visits or who sponsor programs of this nature.
WILKING PIANO FESTIVAL AT WORLD'S FAIR
STORY & CLARK PIANO USED ECLUSIVELY
Just as we were going to press, we received an interesting
letter from Frank O. Wilking of the Wilking Music Company,
Indianapolis, Ind., stating that he would conduct a Piano
Festival in the Court of Peace at the New York World's Fair
on September 24th. Story & Clark Pianos will be used ex-
clusively. The arrangements for this Festival have been made
through the efforts of Mr. E. F. Story. This concert will be
broadcast over the NBC network.
