YESTERDAY, TODAY, TOMORROW...
THE INSTRUMENT OF THE IMMORTALS!
RICHARD WAGNER, writing to Theo-
dore Steinway in 1879, exclaimed: "I
wish you could have witnessed my joy
when your wonderful piano arrived!"
And Franz Liszt, in a letter trea-
sured by the Steinway family, wrote
in part: "Your piano is a glorious
masterpiece, affording delight even to
my old piano-weary fingers!"
Today, in over 90% of the public
concerts given in the United States,
the piano used is the Steinway!
Hofmann and Rachmaninoff use
the Steinway exclusively. Paderewski
says of it: "Amateurs and artists alike
look upon the Steinway as upon a
standard of perfection."
Toscanini says: "I have always used
a Steinway and always will." The
great radio chains and important in-
dependent stations equip their studios
with the Instrument of the Immortals;
New York broadcasting stations alone
have more than 85 Steinway Grand
Pianos in constant use.
There are more children taking
piano lessons today than ever; the
number of music supervisors in schools
has increased thirty times over in
twenty-five years; teaching methods
are vastly improved, and the equip-
ment used in teaching has kept pace.
In leading schools, conservatories and
colleges here and in Europe, the
Steinway today is pre-eminent. One
New York conservatory of music alone
has purchased more than 140 Stein-
ways that are in daily use.
But for all its popularity in concert
hall, stage, radio and conservatory,
the Steinway is primarily a piano for
the home. It is the good companion for
your children . . . the golden voice
heard from generation to generation
. . . ever the wise and sure investment.
