The very generous demand for pianos con-
tinues in an unabated way, and the outlook for
the piano industry for 1937 is a most encourag-
ing one. Where early shipments are desired,
orders should be placed promptly.

REMARKABLE FEATURES OF THE
MATHUSHEK SPINETS
A few words in the page advertisement of the
Spinet Grand piano, that notable and famous product
of the Mathushek Piano Mfg. Company, tell of a lady
investigating new piano models saw a Spinet grand
displayed in the window of the Mathushek retail
store in 59th street. New York, and so interested was
she in the general contour, outlines and style of the in-
strument that she concluded to go no further in her
hunt for an instrument of the Spinet type that would
suit her taste and requirement until she had examined
this new one that had come to her attention.
When its musical qualities, she found beside these qualifica-
tions that the instrument was fully protected by patent
in its construction. She found that of all the low type
models that there was only one Spinet Grand, in fact
she found no other piano like it and naturally her
choice fell to the instrument she was admiring.
This advertisement speaks of a special advantage to
dealers in handling the Spinet Grand, which is the
exclusive agency feature of the manufacturers. "There
is but one Spinet Grand in existence and only one
Spinet Grand dealer in a community. He and he
only can show the instrument."
Beside the Spinet Grand there are the smaller and
less expensive models known as the Cabinet Spinet,
which are really superb vertical type pianos of the
traditional Mathushek quality. A Mathushek agency
is a real asset to a piano merchant's business.
A new Spinet Grand not officially announced by
the manufacturers is being made ready for the market,
full particulars of which will be announced about
February first.
A "SYMBOL OF CULTURE"
The above heading to which was added the further
attribute, "Distinction,' was the heading placed above
a Story & Clark style 47 grand in an advertisement
of Pritchard Music House, 159 North Street, Roches-
ter, N. Y. Further description went on to say that
this piano is "beautifully styled and finished and is
truly 'a miracle of tone'."

• A/r. Barer had incontestably demonstrated his command of
an extraordinary set of fingers, his thorough understanding
of piano tone, his definite flair, if one may so phrase it, for
thinking pianistically.
The ,\ octurne was finely modeled, phrased with authority and
admirable taste, shrewdly colored by the pianists excellent tone
and the scherzo further defined Mr. Barer's affinity to the

interpreter par excellence, making a romantic idyl of the C
