BAND NEWS
The accompanying picture shows the active group of men who arc making sales history for M. Steinert &
Sons, Boston, Mass., with a number of representatives of the manufacturers whose products they specialize in. The
photograph was taken at the recent sales convention of the Steinert Company, an account of which was given in
the last issue of Presto-Times. Seated in the front row are: Mr. Steinert, Mr. Steinway, Mr. Irion, Mr. Wag-
ner, and Mr. Murphy.
For the first time in many years, London High School,
London, Ohio, has a band for football games, follow-
ing the organization recently of the London High School
Band. It is rumored that several girls will join the band
soon, giving London one of the largest bands in that
section of the state.
The Board of Education of Mt. Blanchard has com-
pleted arrangements for band instruction in the public
school.
A band organized from boys in the public grade and
high schools of St. Mary's is rehearsing twice a week
under the direction of Myron Pearce of Celina.
A band for Woodward High School, Toledo, was
guaranteed Thursday with purchase of $1,000 worth of
instruments and presentation of a set of uniforms by
Henry Page, Toledo ice cream dealer.
Graham Chadwick, graduate of Middlesboro High
School, Middlesboro, Ky., has taken up his duties as
band director at Transylvania College, Lexington, Ky.
New band instruments for Central and Eastern High
Schools, Lansing, Mich., were authorized recently at a
meeting of the Board of Education.
The Community Traction Employes' Band, Toledo,
Ohio, has 37 members. Forest Highland is the
director.
The ship's band playing on the promenade calmed
the 380 frightened passengers during a fire which
blazed in the lower decks of the Hamburg-American
liner Deutschland as she steamed up the New York
Bay from quarantine on July 1.
Radio sets on Iowa farms increased 10,096 during
the last year to a total of 86,128.
