thing worthwhile, not only as a musical instrument but as very line piece of
furniture.
In the Duncan-Phyfe, which is an early American period, the music desk
is of crotch mahogany, and the encasement of the case and trimming is of finest
imported mahogany.
CUSTOM MODEL LOUIS XV.
On this page appear pictures of three custom-made models of the Schu-
mann pianos that were exhibited at the June convention at the Drake Hotel
in Chicago.
These instruments are the Louis XV, the Louis XVI and the Duncan-
Phyfe. The Louis XVI is a hand-carved instrument, with close fidelity to style.
CUSTOM MODEL DUNCAN-PHYFE.
As to the Louis XV, the trimmings are hand carved and of solid walnut.
The veneer is the finest piece of imported oriental walnut possible to procure.
The motif on the side is an imported piece of French basket weave.
The same holds true on the Louis XVI as to the land carving. The
motif on the side is a piece of fauxsatine. The veneer is also of imported
oriental walnut.
NORTHEASTERN FORCE MOTORS TO R. M. A.
Determining to triple the volume of business done last year on
Zenith radio, the Northeastern Radio, Inc., of Boston, Mass., exclu-
sive distributors of Zenith products, decided the Radio Manufacturers'
Association show was a logical time to bring the entire sales organi-
zation to Chicago to visit the show and the Zenith factories.
Leaving Boston in three automobiles, the entire force, headed by
Adolph Ullman, president, motored to Chicago, the longest auto
trip made by any distributor or dealer present at the show.
An entire day was spent at the Zenith factories where the salesmen

The Louis XV model has basket-weave finish from Germany, thin carved legs,
hardware, all antique. The Duncan-Phyfe is in imported Oriental mahogany.
The Duncan-Phyfe, Louis XV and Louis XVI are authentic reproductions
of their period. It naturally follows that artistic instruments such as these
cannot be made on a production basis.
These models are the designs of one of America's foremost furniture
designers. These instruments are custom-made models created to have the
greatest amount of eye appeal, and to appeal to the musician who wants some-
were shown how Zenith receivers are built, tested and shipped. The
new cabinet factory proved the most interesting of all. There they
were shown the new woodworking machinery, the most modern and
up-to-date of its kind in use by any cabinet or radio manufacturer
today.
The trip to and from Chicago was made without mishap. Banners
on the cars blazoned Zenith Radio on the entire trip. Mr. Ullman is
shown fourth from the right in the picture with L. T. Maloney,
advertising manager, on his left.
