NEW CONN CLARINET
De Luxe Metal Model of C. G. Conn, Ltd.,
Receives Warm Praise From Prominent
Artists Who Recite Its Merits of
Tone and Construction.
The Df Luxe model metal clarinet of C. G. Conn,
Ltd., Elkhart, Ind., has evoked the praise of clari-
netists in every section of the country. Professionals
and amateurs join in expressing their appreciation of
this new winning number in a great line of band
and orchestra instruments. It is another evidence of
the purpose of the company to keep up with require-
ments of artists.
Words of praise for the new metal clarinet in the
line of C. G. Conn, Ltd., have been expressed by
P. W. Dykema, professor of Music Education, Co-
lumbia University, who said in a letter to J. F.
Boyer of the big Elkhart company:
"We are delighted with the new metal clarinet
which occupies a preeminent place in our exhibit
cabinet. The beauty, the finish, the lovely lines of
the instrument, the ease and surety of action, and
the perfection of the tone, all combine to make us
sure that in getting rid of the disadvantages of the
wooden instrument we have lost none of the advan-
tages of the fine old clarinet.
Another letter of praise came from S. H. Orcutt.
chief clarinetist with the Metropolitan Theater Or-
chestra, Boston, who said:
"It affords me great pleasure to recommend the
new Conn De Luxe silver clarinet to my friends and
pupils.
"In my position as principal clarinetist with the
Metropolitan Theater Orchestra, Boston, Mass , I
find that it satisfactorily meets every demand I make
of it.
"You are to be congratulated on the production of
a metal clarinet with a perfect intonation and ease
of playing."

The De Luxe Model Metal Clarinet of (\ (;. Conn.
Ltd., was formerly known as the "Armored" model.
It has 17 keys, n rin.ns and differs from the ordinary
metal clarinet in that it is an instrument of exquis te
beauty, both in appearance and musical quality.
In developing the all-metal clarinet, Conn was not
content to cut the patterns of the new design from
the old wood clarinet, as other manufacturers have.

That would be just like cutting down father's coat
to tit little Willie. Conn went into the matter in a
thorough and scientific manner and after two years
of experiment developed a new and original design
especially for the all-metal clarinet. Not only is this
design an original contribution to clarinet making,
but we believe it is the most nearly perfect clarinet
design yet developed.
It is new in bore, new in tone hole location, new
in diameter and height of sockets, new in design of
keys and mounting. The lay of the keys, however, is
the same as on the old wood clarinet, the familiar
"feel" is still there. Body comes apart in four sec-
tions: barrel, top, bottom, bell. All features combine
to make this clarinet the finest all-metal clarinet on
the market.
