The distributors were entertained at a dinner given
at Hotel Elkhart the evening of January 8.
National distributors of Pan-American instru-

factory, Elkhart, Ind., January 8-9, pledged a more
rigid policy regarding discounts on band instruments.
To carry out this policy, distributors agreed to sell
instruments only to bona fide dealers with stores.

The distributors also recognized the need for a
closer tie-up between the distributor and the dealer.
They recognized the recent tendency of distributors,
not only of musical merchandise but of all lines of
merchandise, to do more promotional work for the
manufacturer. Specifically, Pan-American distribu-
tors will cooperate in 1929 in placing window trans-
fers in the dealers' windows, distributing counter
cards and complete window displays of Pan-Ameri-
can instruments.
