MANY NEW BANDS FORMED
ner-Hafsoos Music House, Inc., Conn representative
in Wisconsin. The store will handle a complete
representative line of Conn instruments and will
provide service for the entire west side of Milwaukee
on this line. A. J. Niemiec, manager of the band
instrument division of the Flanner-Hafsoos Music
House, Inc., says that with Mr. Biehoff's prominence
in the music field in Milwaukee as a teacher and com-
poser, added to his value as a music dealer, the ap-
pointment carries an amount of benefit.
The junior Lincoln band was organized early this
year at Willis, Mich., under the direction of H. E.
Laing.
Organization of a band in the La Salle, HI., city
schools was completed this week when a meeting
was held for that purpose. In the present stage of
formation the band will include 33 members, drawn
from the various schools.
The organization of a band at Warren, 111., high
school has been sanctioned by the Board of Education
and work will be started immediately on the organi-
zation. M. S. Nuss, tjf Lena, who has been instructor
in music there for the past few years, will serve as
director of the band. The band will include twenty-
five or thirty pieces.
A fifty-four piece band lias been organized in
Cicero, III., by Mr. Janovsky. The students in the
band were taken from the junior band which meets
fourth hour and which has thirty members in it and
from the senior band which meets seventh hour and
has twenty-four members.
A boys' harmonica band is being organized in the
Wood River school, Wood River, 111. About twenty-
tive have joined.
The Chamber of Commerce Beginners' Band haf
been organized in New Castle, Ind.
At a special meeting last week in Kendallville,
Ind., the Board of Education considered plans for the
establishment of a high school band. The more ex-
pensive band instruments will be purchased by the
school, according to Superintendent Dixon. Ways
and means will also be worked out for the purchase
of uniforms for the members of the band.
Supt. C. R. Dean of the Rensselaer, Ind., city
schools states that steps are being taken toward the
organization of a new school band.
N E W CONN STORE.
Norbert J. Beihoff, of the Norbert J. Beihoff Music
Co., Milwaukee, Wis., has been appointed a sub-
dealer for C. G. Conn band instruments by the Flan-

step in our production is an inspection, and we have
expert inspectors for all operations to the number of
600. Our factory operatives now number a little
over 6,000, which gives an inspector for every ten
employes in our six plants."
DAMROSCH'S RADIO UNIVERSITY.
Walter Damrosch started his "musical university of
the air" going on Friday morning of last week. Ac 7
cording to the National Broadcasting Company,
twenty-five stations were linked with WJZ in New
York when he began his educational series. He said
he would reach high school students in class rooms
and auditoriums in every state east of the Rocky
Mountains.
