issued special postal card advertising for "The Cheer
Leader," a breezy college roll with the stirring tunes
to be heard at the stadiums this season. Here's the

MATT KENNEDY'S TRADE CAREER
In Telling Recent Expansion of His Business,
Trade Organ Prints List of Activities.
In addition to his establishment in the Republic
building, Chicago, Matt J. Kennedy has just opened
a branch in the store of the Harry Brooks Music
Company at 335 South Wabash avenue in the same
city. The Bosch line of radio receivers plays a
prominent part in both establishments.
"No one in the music industry is as well known
and better liked than Matt J. Kennedy," says Radio
Tayles in comment. "Located for 23 years in the
Republic building, he has probably done more for
the music industry than any other man in Chicago.
"In 1923, as secretary of the National Association
of Music Merchants, he fostered and successfully
conducted the school boys' National Band Contest,
which created perhaps the greatest sales stimulus
ever experienced in the band instrument field. These
contests have since been conducted annually.
"In June, 1920, he was elected president of the
Piano Club and as the head of that organization
was host at the convention of the National Music
Industries Association held at the Drake Hotel in
the spring of 1921. Due to his untiring efforts the
Piano Club became a real factor in the music indus-
try and at the expiration of his term of office he was
awarded a gold medal.
"Indeed, it may be truthfully said that there is no
greater enthusiast for Bosch Receivers than Matt
Kennedy, unless it might be his most able and
energetic associate, Mr. John Kelly.
"Since the inception of his retail phonograph and
radio business, Mr. Kelly has been associated with
Mr. Kennedy and no finer combination could be
conceived."

H. Lieveman had to attend a radio show at
Columbus, so he had to send on a written report to
the Toledo convention about the work of the legis-
lative committee, of which he was chairman. His
report dealt principally with the privileges of deal-
ers to make music publicly without having legal
action started against it as "noise" and therefore a
nuisance. He referred to a decision of a Columbus
judge who decided that music was not noise, there-
fore dealers could go ahead and produce it within
reasonable hours. He advised co-operation in getting
legislation allowing dealers to play as they pleased.
