OTTO ZIMMERMAN & SON CO.
Old Cincinnati Music Printing House Has Been Help-
ing Composers for Fifty Years.
The Otto Zimmerman & Son Co.. Inc., of Cincin-
nati, is one of the largest music printing houses in
the country with a clientele built up in fifty years
of satisfactory work for publishers and composers.
Since 1876 the house has been a forceful aid in the
encouragement of music.
The old Cincinnati music engraving and printing
house produces anything in music and by any process
the customer requires. "No order too small to re-
ceive attention" is a phrase in its advertising which
suggests the comprehensive character of its business.
Small orders are welcomed and there is nothing too
big in music printing jobs for the house to handle.
FREED-EISEMANN DEALERS AIDED.
Listeners and dealers alike are enthusiastic over the
Freed-Eisemann Treasure Chest of Melody Hour
being broadcast on Mondays through Station KWK,
St. Louis, Mo., by the Barrett Electrical Supply Com-
pany, distributors of the Freed-Eisemann line. Indi-
vidual dealer broadcasts, incorporated in the general
Barrett program, have resulted in many sales. These
broadcasts and the newspaper tie-up campaign are
under the direction of W. H. Newton, manager of
the radio department of the Barrett Company, who
writes: "These programs have been very beneficial
to the Freed-Eisemann dealers!"
SONORA CONFERENCE.
The first conference of the Sonora Phonograph
Company, Inc., to discuss its great new line of prod-
ucts which will be presented to the public in Sep-
tember, was held at the New York office of the com-
pany from July 18 to 21. The sales staff was repre-
sented by A. J. Kendrick, vice-president and general
sales manager of the Sonora Company; H. B. Har-
ing, eastern sales manager; H. L. Spencer, New
England sales manager; H. B. Bibb, mid-west sales
manager from Chicago, and H. E. Gardiner, western
sales manager from San Francisco. Sales, distribu-
tion and advertising were fully discussed and plans
laid for an intensive sales campaign for the six months
starting September 1. Electrical reproducing instru-

CAPITOL WORD ROLL FEATURE,
The Capitol Roll & Record Co., Chicago, provides
dealers with another"" argument for Capitol Word
Rolls in addition to the other claims which have in-
fluenced player-piano owners since the introduction of
the line. The latest Capitol Word Roll feature is a
one-piece box, a convenience appreciated by the roll
buyers and one which assures the continuation of the
line as a certain profit-producer in a roll department.
Q R S AD IN SATURDAY POST.
The Saturday Evening Post of August 11 certainly
did give the music industry some fine advertising on
its front cover. The music dealer can come in on
three of the articles illustrated, one of which "The
Q R S Movie Camera," is advertised on page 107 of
the same issue.
MUSIC IN LOS ANGELES.
In addition to the organization of almost two hun-
dred musical groups on playgrounds and at commu-
nity centers, the Los Angeles Department of Play-
ground and Recreation serves in many capacities of a
civic nature in its various divisions. One of the re-
cent events credited to this municipal department is
the great Festival of Song which was presented at
the Hollywood Bowl on July 15 before an audience
of 35,000 people. The Los Angeles Reed and Brass
Symphony furnished the instrumental music.
PREPARES FOR BIGGER BUSINESS.
Lincoln Music Co., 4716 Lincoln avenue, Chicago,
has redecorated the interior of its store and enlarged
its floor space to take care of increased business. Vic-
trola booths have been taken out giving added room
for the radios in which they specialize. Lincoln
Mus'c Co. has been in the neighborhood for ten years
and for six years at its present location. Harry
Hanna is proprietor.
Amazing Profit in Gulbransen Radio
We Asked 1500 Dealers to Give Us the Facts
W
E ASKED 1500 Gulbransen dealers to study the Gulbransen Radio, from their own stand-
point, and to tell us what possibilities they saw in it. Hundreds of them, after inspecting
the Gulbransen Radio and analyzing its salability, set surprisingly large quotas for themselves.
One of the questions on our questionnaire Was: "How many Gulbransen Radio Sets do you
estimate you can handle yearly?"
Another: "Do you want us to authorize you as a franchised Gulbransen dealer?"
Many different angles of the Radio were covered by this questionnaire: Sales policy, price
practices, separation of radio activities from other departments, etc.
We felt it wise to face the facts—to get the true picture of the Gulbransen Radio as dealers see it.
A full endorsement has been given the Gulbransen Radio by .hundreds of merchants. Others
made valuable suggestions, the practical ones having already been put into effect.

The Gulbransen Radio has back of it one of the most substantial and successful indus- «.

WESSELL ACTION MATERIALS
Vast Forests of Choice Hardwoods Controlled by
Wessell, Nickel & Gross in Vermont.
Among the many contributing factors to the main-
tenance of uniform high quality of the actions made
by Wessell, Nickel & Gross, New York, is the inex-
haustible supply of the finest hardwood lumber avail-
able to the company. Wessell, Nickel & Gross con-
trols a vast acreage of hardwood timber in Vermont
where the mills are located and so the company is
always assured of an adequate supply of the finest
selected maple and other woods for its requirements
in the action factories at 45th street, 10th avenue and
West 46th street, New York.
Other materials that go into the Wessell, Nickel &
Gross actions are of great importance in producing
piano actions of the highest grade and every bit of
the materials must measure up to the high standard
set for the production. But it is a mark of the fore-
handedness of the company to have such desirable
