A representative of Presto-Times was riding in a
bus one day last week a few miles southwest of De-
troit when Henry Ford, the auto magnate, whizzed
by going in the same direction. He was in one of his
new-model machines and his driver was a mechani-
cian. "Hello, Henry!" shouted a fellow passenger in
the bus—the man who wrote a famous slogan for
the General Motors Company a few years ago. "How
do you do?" responded Mr. Ford, and looking back as
he sped onward he smiled in goodwill at the passen-
gers and waved his hand. To ricli and poor alike he
is still Henry—this man who has achieved the greatest
financial success that has ever come to an individual
and whose daily life goes to prove that the spirit of
democracy is neither killed nor made by oodles of
money or the lack of cash either. Respect for Mr.
Ford is always for the man.

federal court at Chicago had granted the receiver an
order to pay 50 per cent of the claims for labor at
once. Following the closing of the factory, employes
