PROMINENCE OF DRUM LINE
Important Phase of Musical Merchandise Business
Interests Professional and Amateur Drummers.
Never before has the interest in drums been so
keen. The formation of fife and drum corps and
regular bands and orchestras necessitate the purchase
of drums, so that when the musical merchandise
dealer anywhere is advertising drums, he is talking
to the professional drummers as well as the amateur.
The professoinal is exacting. But even the amateur
does not play the drum for any length of time with

The group piano lesson scheme, which interests the
piano trade with growing intensity every month that
passes, is an exigency or the piano trade conditions.
It is a real means to a desired result—piano sales.
One of the most enthusiastic proponents of the group
piano class is William L. Bush, who tells what the
class lesson especially excels in, and how it possesses
many advantages over any other form of teaching, is
seen in these facts:
"First, economy in cost of lessons; second, its in-
spiration to ambition through competitive spirit and
desire to excel; third, the combining of sight reading,
ear training, transposition, rhythm, composition and
technic, body and hand positions, deportment, con-
centration of mind, plus actual practice on piano in
class room; fourth, social contact, environment and
benefit from cooperation and coordination.
"For piano dealers and manufacturers the great
possibilities of the class piano lesson as a stimulus
to sales cannot be overestimated, for sales will in-
crease in proportion to the development of this form
of teaching, which, is made universal or national, as
we hope it will be through our private schools, paro-
chial and public schools, the demand for pianos will
increase beyond our fondest hopes or wildest dreams."
