William H. Warburton, the genial host at Alexan-
dra Bay's famous Thousand Island House, gave guests
at this popular hotel an unusual treat Memorial Day
when the Thousand Island House formally opened
for the season. Although old in reputation and pres-
tige, the Thousand Island House has always been
quick to receive the latest innovations and improve-
ments which makes a hotel home to its guests, and
this year Mr. Warburton has added to the hotel's
complete appointments a $5,000 Mason & Hamlin
Ampico recording piano from the warerooms of the
Clark Music Company's Watertown branch, which is
under the able management of R. L. Hollingshead, who
engineered the installation of this superb instrument
in the Thousand Island House.
On Memorial Day Mrs. Ursula Dietrich Hollings-
head, famous Ampico recording artist, a favorite with
Syracuse because of her former residence here,
charmed the guests at the Thousand Island House
with several of her own selections.
So exact is the recording of the Ampico grand that
Mrs. Hollingshead was able to switch the reproducing
device of the piano and cease playing herself without
the change becoming evident to the audience. The
line sale is another record in selling achievement of
the Clark Music Company, Syracuse, N. Y.
As the Thousand Island House enters its fifty-third
season, Mr. Warburton is more enthusiastic than ever
over the activity at this best known of the Thousand
Island hotels.
