AUTOMATIC PHONOGRAPH CO.
Articles of incorporation have been filed for the
Capehart Automatic Phonograph Company, which
will be established in Huntington, Ind., and which
will manufacture a phonograph that will play 62
records, reverse them and play the other sides, all
automatically, it was announced this week. The in-
corporators of the company are Homer E. Capehart
of Indianapolis, Winfred Runyan and J. W. Caswell.
Common stock to the amount of $50,000 will be
issued. There will be no preferred stock.
Temporarily, the headquarters of the company will
be in the plant of the Caswell-Runyan Company,
Huntington, where the cabinets for the machines will
be manufactured, and the employes of the Capehart
company will build the machines there.
Preparations for the manufacture of the machines
are now being made, and it is expected that produc-
tion will be begun about March 15, it was said.
The machine, all of whose functions are automatic,
is the invention of T. A. Small of Cleveland, O., and
the right to manufacture the machine is held exclu-
sively by the Huntington company. Mr. Small, at
least temporarily, will act as chief engineer, and will
supervise the installation of equipment for the com-
pany.
Exact descriptions of the machine are not at present
obtainable, but the cabinet is said to be quite large.
It will contain and play any number of records from
28 to 62. The person using the machine can play
single records by hand, just as is done with the ordi-
nary phonograph; he can select a number of records
of his preference, which the machine will play auto-
matically; or it will play the entire 68 records, turn
them over and play the other sides, all automatically.
The machine is operated electrically throughout,
and it is possible for such an instrument to be placed
in one part of a house and, through a telephonic

HEAR CONN RADIO ARTISTS
Another Sunday Afternoon Concert Directed by J. F.
Boyer Broadcasted by Station KYW.
The Sunday afternoon Educational Concerts fur-
nished by the great band and orchestra instrument
manufacturing house of C- G. Conn, Ltd., of Elkhart,
Ind., broadcasted over station KYW, Chicago, are
attracting more and more attention each week. Last
Sunday afternoon (Feb. 12) the cornet was the sub-
ject of the lecture by J. F. Boyer, who was assisted
by Carl Martin and Richard Stroffs as soloists and
demonstrators of the functions of the cornet family in
the brass band and orchestra.
Air. Boyer thanked his invisible audience of radio
listeners for the interest manifested in these educa-
tional concerts which must be made especially at-
tractive to make people remain at home to listen to
the Conn artists on a Spring-like day wonderful for
motoring.
Great interest continues to be manifesed in the
"best letters on the day's concert." The winner of
the prize, a scout trumpet, of the Conn, Ltd., make,
is a young lad of Danville, 111. A demonstration of
the instrument was made by Prof. Stroffs, carrying
the melody entire in the William Tell overture and
other selections. This is considered quite an ex-
traordinary accomplishment on "open note" instru-
ments of the bugle class. Practically all the present
day bugle calls were also given by this performer.
The demonstrations on the cornet by the two
virtuosi, Martin and Stroffs, made more interesting
the descriptive talk by Mr. Boyer.
Mr. Kuhn, the well-known Sousaphone player, gave
a request number, "Rocked in the Cradle of the
Deep," with variations; the grand organ accompani-
ment being played by Mr. Boyer.
GOOD BAND INSTRUMENT YEAR.
Music dealers in Evansville and other towns who
handle band instruments are of the opinion that this
is going to be a good year for the sale of such
goods. Most of the dealers say that a presidential
year is always good for the band instrument business
and they do not expect this year will be any exception
to the rule. Start Mueller, of the Harding & Miller
Music Co., Evansville, Ind., believes that his firm
will sell more band instruments this year than they
have any year since 1924. He says the general trade
outlook in Evansville and southern Indiana is much
better than it was at the beginning of the present
year. Spring and summer trade probably will show
a gain over the corresponding period of last year.
THE SYRACUSE PROGRAMS.
The Clark Music Co., Syracuse, N. Y., sponsors
the series of Syracuse Composers' programs broad-
casted every Tuesday evening over WSYR at the
Hotel Syracuse. In a period of three months com-
positions from the works of eighteen different Syra-
cusans have been given and included music of every
description.

Charged with burglarizing the Club Lido, 808 Sev-
enth avenue, New York, N. Y., and stealing three
saxaphones, Meyer Plass and Harold Walsh, musi-
cians, each 20 years old, of 346 West 71st street, New
