the Nunn-Cascade radio receiver, a Milwaukee made
product, the coming year.
James Lawler, Jr., 27, well known orchestra direc-
tor at Fond du Lac, Wis., was killed in an automo-
bile collision this week near Kenosha. Mr. Lawler
was driving with a friend from Fond du Lac to
Chicago to join an orchestra when their car struck
another containing five other people.

New Clark orchestra rolls of electric piano music
have been issued for September by the Clark Or-
chestra Roll Company, De Kalb, 111. The new rolls
are distinguished by the characteristic taste in selec-
tion and up-to-dateness of the De Kalb company, and
the titles of the rolls eloquently suggest the peppy
nature of the tunes.
In the selections are the undeniable hits which
have been made familiar to the public on the stage
and over the radio as well as by the playing of the
more prominent orchestras. The September num-
bers are valuable additions to the fine catalog of
numbers which are making the panio owners busy
profit collectors.
Clark orchestra rolls are made for the following
automatic instruments, 65-note rewind coin operated

FRENCH VIOLINS.
French violin makers have again justified their
claim to produce the finest-toned violins in the world,
says a correspondent of London Music. At the
close of the International Music Exhibition at
Geneva, 51 violins by the best-known modern makers
throughout the world were tested. The judges
awarded the first prize to M. Gallicaune, of Paris,
who, while looking through some Italian manu-
scripts dated 1716, has discovered the formula for
the famous Cremona varnish. The second prize went
to M. Hel, of Lille. The instruments entered by
these makers received several hundreds of points
more than the next in order of merit.
PLAY MAYOR WALKER'S SONG.
When Mayor Walker of New York arrived in
Dublin last wek he got one pleasant surprise that
nattered him. In the midst of the reception, when
Mayor Walker and Mrs. Walker and their party
came ashore, there was much to remind him of New
York and the United States. He heard "The Star-
Spangled Banner," "Sweet Rosie O'Grady," "East
Side, West Side" and "Come Back to Erin," and
even his own composition, "Will You Love Me in
December as You Did in May?" This last tune was
played by the boys' band of the Artane School, and
pleased him immensely.

NEW BANDS STIMULATES TRADE
Movement for Forming New Organizations Gains in
Enthusiasm All Over the Country.
For the third consecutive year the Horicon (Wis.)
City Band won first honors in the Class A band con-
test in the Northwestern Band Association's annual
tournament at Waterloo, Wis. Other bands which
placed in this class were: Granton, second; White-
water, and Mayville, tied for third; Juneau, fourth;
and Janesville, sixth.
The Fifth Wisconsin Radio and Music Show will
be held at the Milwaukee Auditorium, October 4 to 9.
Preliminary plans are being drawn up for this affair
and it is expected that it will be the biggest and best
ever held. Already half the space on the main floor
of the auditorium which will be used for exhibit
booths of all kinds has been sold, and this is a very
favorable sign to go by.
Over 800 music and radio dealers from all over
Wisconsin will cooperate to make this show a suc-
cess and over 45,000 people are expected to attend
the affair. The Milwaukee Music Merchants Asso-
ciation and the Wisconsin Radio Trades Association
