BUCKEYE TRUCK FOR SERVICE
Improved Buckeye Sill Piano Truck of Self-Lifting
Piano Truck Co. Solves Dealers' Problems.
A piano truck that serves the mover well is one
which makes easier the stair work problems. And
the most effective assistance to the mover's ingenuity
is found in the new Buckeye Sill Piano Truck. Made
by the Self-Lifting Piano Truck Co., Findlay, Ohio.
The difficulties of the grand or upright on the stair
are minimized when the Buckeye is operated. It is
the invention of a man who thoroughly understands
the processes of piano moving. Its use means greater
safety, a saving of labor and economy of time to the
user.
The new Buckeye Sill assures better service today
than ever before in its uses by the trade. The han-
dles, center rock shaft and the uprights at both ends
have been greatly improved and other changes for
the further betterment of the truck are described in
the new circular which dealers and movers may ob-
tain on request. In this interesting booklet eight
styles of end trucks are described as well as piano
hoists, covers and specially made straps for the piano
mover.
SYMPATHY FOR "UNCLE BOB"
Quin Ryan, in His Column in Chicago Tribune,
Speaks for Thousands of Youngsters.
The wife of Walter Wilson, former music trade
man of Chicago and a much esteemed member of
the Piano Club of Chicago, passed away recently.
For some time past he had given his entire time
to radio; to his department on the Record-Herald
and the children's hour of "Uncle Bob" of station
KYW. Touching on this, Quin Ryan, of station
WGN, in his column, "Inside the Loud Speaker," in
th e Chicago Tribune, writes this tribute to his
confrere:
We encountered a pathetic figure the other day.
We met Walter Wilson, the three hundred pound
"Uncle Bob" of the children's hour at station KYW.
He was going out to the cemetery to visit the grave
of his wife, who died last week, and the next day he
was leaving for a change of scene for a while.
"Uncle Bob" has no children of his own, and yet
is the idol of thousands of radio youngsters, formerly
in the business of publishing music, he has given that
up, and devotes all his time to his bedtime period and
personal appearance in the theaters.
It was only two weeks ago that this announcer ap-
peared on the same program at a club with Uncle
Bob, and that night he had to hurry away from us
because his wife was ill. And the other day he
seemed so bewilderedly lonesome.
We tried to explain that we hadn't written our ex-
pression of sympathy to him because we were afraid
that our letter would be buried in piles of children's
letters. The children would feel Uncle Bob's loss,
they would note the sorrow in his voice in the radio
horn, and they would all write to him. Because we
have a bedtime hour of our own, we knew they
would, because they are the most responsive audience
in the world. And Walter said they had.
He seemed sadly like the clown in the drama who
must go on with the show in the face of personal
tragedy—and our heart went out to him. He said
he couldn't continue his bedtime hour immediately,
of course, and he was going west for about a month
or so.
A sad and lonely figure—a big and jovial voice
husky in sorrow—receiving scrawled notes of sympa-
thy from thousands who have never seen him and
whom he has never seen. LTncle Bob, the radio audi-
ence sympathizes with you, from the bottom of our
hearts.
WOULD CHECK MUSIC BROADCAST.
Believing that excessive broadcasting of a compo-
sition quickly destroys its market in published and
phonograph recorded forms, the American Society
of Composers, Authors and Publishers has started a
movement to prevent the too-frequent broadcasting
of popular compositions.

BOWEN LOADER SERVICE
Use of the Admirable Device of Bowen
Piano Loader Co., Winston-Salem, N. C ,
Assures Quick and Safe Deliveries.
The problem of roads over which to deliver the sold
piano does not exist for the music dealer who is
equipped with a Bowen Piano Loader. On good roads
or poor roads the Bowen Piano Loader makes piano
delivery better for the piano dealer. On the good
roads the Loader assures faster time on trips; on the
poor one the device is a necessity in safeguarding the
piano's tonal and constructive qualities which influ-
enced the customer to buy. On a road of any kind
the Loader is a boon to the ambitious salesman anx-
ious to demonstrate a piano to a large number of
prospects in the course of a day.
The Bowen Piano Loader is now considered a
necessity to prompt sales and quick delivery by pro-
gressive music dealers. Many dealers who consid-
ered the buying of the first Loader somewhat of an
experiment, soon were encouraged by the improved
sales to add a second. One western dealer who had
depended for sales on the visits of people to his
store, established a new policy when he realized that
this is a day when the piano dealer must go after
business.
"Going out with the piano on the Bowen Loader,
ready to demonstrate, gives an element of adventure
to piano selling that encourages the active young
fellows to undertake the job. The number of sales
made possible by the Loader makes them stick to
it," said a successful dealer. He is only one of the
hundreds of music merchants who recognize the
Bowen Loader as a great aid to sales.
Edwin Fillman, composer of "Lonesome and Blue"
and other popular songs, has opened a music store at
416 Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee.
