SHEET MUSIC TRADE NOTES
A Few Items Interesting to People in Sheet Music
Department Are Printed.
Mrs. Claude Deem of Soutli Charleston, O-, has
been asked to write special music for the Fillmore
Music Publishing Company, of Cincinnati. Vocal
solos and quartet numbers especially have been re-
quested.
Mrs. Deem has had several numbers
accepted by the company for publication.
The original manuscript of "William Tell" will
be one of the principal exhibits in a museum to be
established by the state of Bavaria at Aschaffenburg
on the Main.
The orchestration feature of the sheet musical busi-
ness is becoming greater every day. Every new
orchestra formed means added stimulus to orches-
trations.
The "World's Greatest Composers Series," by
Carl Fischer, Inc., New York, now includes eight vol-
umes and will be added to from time to 'time.
Sheets of music on vellum and parchment, some
dating as far back as 1100 A. D., are included in an
exhibit in the Grosvenor Library, Buffalo, N. Y.
The Lincoln-Perry Publishing Co. is a new firm of
song publishers in Tacoma, Wash., recently organ-
ized by Charles Y. Lincoln, a singer and composer,
and Reine W. Perry, of Boston. The officers are at
1012 A street.
The Maryland Historical Society has started a
movement for the purchase of the Flagg House at
Pratt and Albemarle streets, Baltimore, in which
"The Star Spangled Banner," was written.
"I've Never Seen a Straight Banana" is said to be
a great British success.
"Aimee" is the title of a saxophone solo, published
recently by the Carmel Music Publishing Co., Car-
mel-by-the-Sea, Calif.
REVISED PLANS OF RADIO CO.
Particulars of Agreement by Which R. A. C. Per-
mits Zenith to Adopt Valuable Patents.
The rearrangement of affairs of the Zenith Radio
Corporation, by which valuable lawsuits have been
adjusted, is told in another article in this week's
Presto-Times.
The agreement was signed for the Zenith Corpora-
tion by President E. F. McDonald. Commander Mc-
Donald said:
"It is my belief that the recent appointment by
President Coolidge of the Radio Commission, ab
provided by the Radio law enacted by the last Con-
gress, and the licensing by the Radio Corporation of
America of an independent manufacturer, constitute
the two most important developments in the radio
industry which have occurred since the inception of
radio broadcasting.
"Manufacturers licensed under the R. C. A. patents
will now be able to expand their facilities with
greater confidence in the security of their invest-
ments and 'the future of the industry, all of which
will enable them to render greater service to the
public. The radio industry has entered its first real
state of stability."
STRING GOODS SELLING.
A fast increase in sales of banjos, guitars and uku-
leles is reported by P. B. Grojean, manager of the
small goods department of the C. C. Baker Music
Shop, 123 South High street, Columbus, O., and Mr.
Grojean anticipates a continuation of good business
for these instruments throughout -the summer. A
girl's orchestra which he has organized and which
has made an appearance several times is proving
an effective advertising affair.

Eight Combinations of Bass and Snare Drums, Tym-
pani and Traps Included in Conn Line.
Complete drum outfits arc now made by the lead-
ing drum manufacturers and the importance of the
drummer in the orchestral scheme is shown in the
wide range of drums and drummers' accessories avail-
able for the professional or ambitious amateur. The
growth of dance orchestras, both in number, size
and musical accomplishment have vastly increased
the demand for the full drum outfits.
The drummer's outfit, besides bass and snare
drums, may include instruments of percussion that
are now considered necessities for the drummer, such
as tympani, marimbas, xylophones, bells, tam-
bourines, wood blocks, gongs, cymbals and tomtoms.
This department of C. G. Conn, Ltd., Elkhart,
Ind., in addition to providing the completed instru-
ments and accessories, also has a section for repair
or replacement parts, such as drum heads, cases,
extra rods, sticks, hoops, etc. For the professional
drummer the company has many special combina-
tions in outfits, notably the "Tuxedo Ballroom Out-
fit" which is complete in every sense of the word.
There are seven other drummers' outfits in the C. G.
Conn line.
THE UKULELE STANDARD.
The question of ukulele standards occupied a spe-
cial committee of the Musical Instrument and Acces-
sories Manufacturers at a meeting in New York City
last week. Ukulele models made by the members
of the association were examined and those passing
the committee will be given the association stamp
that it is a standard instrument.
