STEVE GARDNER'S SUCCESS
Popular Orchestra Leader and Teacher Highly Rec-
ommends Martin's Handcraft Instruments.
"The boys work with me and are as interested in
the success of the organization as I could possibly
be," is the brief manner in which Steve Gardner sums
up the reasons for the unusual success of his orches-
tra. Like a number of other outstanding orchestras
Martin Handcraft instruments are highly recom-
mended by Steve Gardner and naturally are used by
many members of his orchestra. The Martin instru-
ments were purchased from J. R. Reed Music Store,
of Austin, Texas, Martin distributors.

J. F. REED BUILDS NEW HOME
President of Paragon Plate Company, Oregon, 111.,
Erecting Residence in Picturesque Spot on River.
J. F. Reed, president and general manager of the
Paragon Piano Plate Company, of Oregon, 111., is a
very busy man these days. Apart from the activities
of his business he has another interest that takes up
all of his spare time.
Mr. Reed is constructing a new residence in one of
the most beautiful and historical locations in Ogle
County. This home is to be a few miles south of
Oregon, on the famous Blackhawk trail, at a point
on the Rock River known as Castle Rock. The eleva-
tion is a hundred and sixty feet above the river and
commands a view of many miles up and down the
stream, including the Blackhawk statue, done by the
sculptor, Lorado Taft, located several miles to the
north.
This beautiful home, with its twenty acres, will be
ready for occupancy in the early spring of 1926 and
will be one of the attractive estates of that section.
Mr. Reed has owned a fine residence in Oregon, a
city noted for its beautiful flower gardens, which he
recently sold in anticipation of living at Castle Rock
when the family returns from the South next spring.

STEVE GARDNER'S ORCHESTRA.
in the country, Steve Gardner's organization was
largely recruited from Texas University, and under
his able direction and leadership they have become
prime favorites in the great Lone Star State.
Almost anywhere in Texas the appearance of Steve
Gardner and his orchestra is the signal for general
applause and approbation. As for Mr. Gardner him-
self, he is not only a most able leader and player, but
also a teacher of note.
