SHEET MUSIC AND RADIO
ACE OF SHEET MUSIC TRADE
Ed. M. DeMotte, Best-Posted Man in His Depart-
ment of the Business, Makes Change.
SONG HIT IN Q R S ROLL
It is safe to say that in
the entire range of the
expert sheet music men,
the one possessed of the
closest information con-
cerning the favorite com-
positions, both old and
new, is Ed. M. DeMotte
of Los Angeles, Cal.
As far back as 1868, when
a very young man, the
DeMotte B r o t h e r s
bought out the old Chi-
cago house of H. M. Hig-
gins, moved the stock to
E. M. DeMotte.
93 Washington street,
and conducted a general music store there for years.
Tom DeMotte, the elder brother, died in New York
City many years ago, while he was manager of the
eastern branch of the John Church Company. Ed.
DeMotte also returned to New York where he was
with the S. T. Gordon house until he went West.
For a good many years Mr. DeMotte has been
manager of the sheet music department of the Fifth
Street Store, in Los Angeles. The following notice
has been sent to hundreds of Mr. DeMotte's friends
in all parts of the country. It tells of his change to
the Starr Piano Co., which is also a completely
equipped music house to which Mr. DeMotte is cer-
tain to prove a valuable acquisition:
"Mr. E. M. DeMotte for 12 years manager of the
Music Department of the Fifth Street Store, will be
pleased to meet and serve his old friends at the Starr
Piano Co., Sheet Music Department, 630 South Hill
Street on and after July 13th. Yours sincerely,
"STARR PIANO CO.

"Los Angeles, Cal."
MUSIC SERVICE CREED.
The Adams Sheet Music Shop, Lima, O., prints
the following articles by creed in its service: "To fur-
nish colleges, schools and private teachers of piano,
voice, violin, orchestral and band instruments, with
the best sheet music and music books. To secure
any piece of sheet music or music book obtainable,
not carried in stock, in the shortest possible time by
special order. To co-operate in all movements to
advance the cause of community music, especially in
bringing good music to the home, school and
church."
WINS WITH AMERICAN SETS.
A considerable increase in radio enthusiasm has re-
sulted from the First Italian National Radio Exhibi-
tion in Florence at which the gold medal award was
won by an Italian Company exhibiting Freed-Eise-
mann receivers.

Sherman, Clay & Company have combined in this
picture a sheet music and Q R S player roll window
of their latest hit, "Twilight." Ed. Little, manager
of their sheet music interests, is so enthusiastic over
this number and so well pleased with the wonderful
roll made of it by the Q R S Music Company that
he at once made arrangements to have the combina-
tion window put in. It augmented sales in San
Francisco.
Arthur Duclos, manager of the player roll depart-
ment, stated that his department is having a remark-
able sale on this number in a Q R S roll, the window
display bringing in many people to hear the number,
and that practically all prove to be buyers.
The window was set up under the personal super-
vision of Jesse Glick, who has charge of all of
Sherman, Clay & Company's window decorations.
Mr. Glick is himself a composer of note, the well-
known "Pale Moon" being one of his numbers, to-

A FRENCH WAY.
In Paris music halls it is quite the thing to an-
nounce English and American songs in their original
title but singing each alternate verse in French and
English. Here is a specimen announcement from a
Paris program: "Le gros succes de la CHAUVE-
SOURIS au Theatre FEMINA, PARIS," I MISS
MY SWISS."
The Witzmann-Stuber Piano Co., Memphis, Tenn.,
has moved to the Peabody Hotel Building.
