In compensation for its copper shortage, Germany
has developed a considerable aluminum industry,
aluminum now being used to a great extent to replace
copper in this country. Production by one plant
( Rheinfelden Werke in Baden) has grown from W)'J
tons in 1913 to 20,000 in 1924.
Exports of wood pulp, most of which is available
for making paper for music rolls, for the first four
months of 1925 show T a considerable increase over
the corresponding period in 1924, according to Con-
sul General Claude I. Dawson, Stockholm, who states
that shipments during the former period reached a
total of 240,726 metric tons (metric ton = 2 204.6
pounds), in contrast to 119,324 tons during the same
period in 1924.
The last wool clip in Uruguay is estimated to be
worth about 40,000,000 pesos, but the market at pres-
ent is almost completely idle, outside of the im-
proved interest shown by American buyers during
the week ended June 20.
A report of the second quarterly ivory sale of
the present year, held in Antwerp in May, has been
issued by Consul General G. S. Messersmith. The
sale was said to be less active than the corresponding
one held in 1924, amounting to 63,137 kilos.

PORTABLE RADIOLA DISPLAY
Lyon & Healy, Chicago, Has Artistic Vacation Scene
Showing Joys of the Portable Set.
A striking example of radio window display is
that of Lyon & Healy Chicago, in which is shown
the portable Radiola Superheterodyne. The display
is arranged in the large corner window by which
thousands pass daily. The possibilities of successful
displays in the corner window of the big Chicago
store are further increased in the fact that motor
busses transporting thousands to and from the down-
town business centers, load and unload passengers at
this point.
A more appropriate and effective display could
not be had at the present time than the one arranged
of the portable Radiola. It is artistic and appealing
in every sense of the word and depicts the joys of
the portable out-of-doors. The background is a
mountain scene, showing pine forests, lofty peaks and
falling water in perfectly blended colors. In the
foreground sits a young lady with her portable
Radiola, tuning in some distant station, while near-
by sits a man enjoying the program.
The arrangement of soft, blue lights add to the
attractiveness of the display during the night and a
bright light placed under the waterfall makes that
feature clearly visible. The credit for the fine show
goes to W. G. Stewart, who has shown artistic ability
in window arrangements.
