The Talking Machine and Radio Men, Inc., an
association of the trade of New York, New Jersey,
and Connecticut, is going to start the 1925-6 season
with an inspirational picnic which will be held at
Bear Mountain on Wednesday, September 2. The
officials believe that what the trade needs more than
anything else is confidence and they know that a
tremendous turnout to start the season will serve to
instill confidence in the industry.
The trip will be made on one of the Hudson River
Bay Line boats and there will be dancing all the
way up the river. The ticket issued will include the
bus ride up the mountain; a fine chicken dinner at
The Inn, athletic games and contests, including
greased pole climbing and rabbit chasing; swimming
in the gigantic new pool which has just been opened
at the Mountain; boating and many other amuse-
ments and the daylight return to the city on the
Hudson River boat. For all these attractions, in-
stead of the price being increased, we are going back
to pre-war days and are going to charge $5, which
will also include a chance to win a handsome prize
on a lucky number contest.
Those in the trade who are not members of the
association and who are all invited to participate,
and desire to get tickets, please communicate with
E. G. Brown, 142 Main street, Hackensack, N. J.,
and send a check for $5, for each ticket desired. As
the capacity of the boat is limited it is urged that
those desiring to make up parties, do so at once and
send check.

MARTIN HANDCRAFT DISPLAY
QUICK REPAIR SERVICE
United Specialty Co., Monticello, Ind., Assures Com-
petent Work on Recovering and Rebushing Keys.
The United Specialty Co., Monticello, Ind., is
equipped to perform competent factory service for
dealers, repairmen, and tuners requiring keys recov-
ered and rebushed and pneumatics repaired. The
company has a staff of experienced men with the
ability to perform a key recovering and rebushing
job until the keys look like new ones. Pneumatics
are repaired in the same workmanlike way.
Fast service is guaranteed in every job and that is
a feature of the methods of the United Specialty Co.
that should commend it to the trade. Sometimes the
promptest service is required by the man or firm with
a job of key recovering or pneumatic repairing and
quickness in accomplishing the work is highly appre-
ciated by them. That quality in the service of the
United Specialty Co. is what retains every customer
made.
In addition to fast and competent service the prices
are alluring. Here are figures from the list of prices:
Fifty-two heads and tails (best heavy pyralin ivory),
$8.00; fifty-two fronts, $2.50; eighty-eight keys re-
bushed, $4.00; fifty-two fronts cleaned and polished,
$1.00.
The Swedish variety of spruce (Picea excelsa), a
variety not unlike our common spruce in the East,
furnishes the bulk of the raw material for the Swed-
ish pulp and paper industry.
A NOTABLE CONVENTION EXHIBIT.
A full line of Martin Handcraft band instruments
was displayed at the recent trade convention in Chi-
cago by the Chicago Musical Instrument Co., and
proved interesting to hundreds of dealers.
The instruments of the Martin Band Instrument
Co., Elkhart, Ind., were, most of them, beautifully
finished in gold. The instruments were shown against
a background of silk plush, the result being most
pleasing.
O. P. Bassett, general manager of the Martin Band
Instrument Co., and Fred A. Holtz, manager of the
sales and advertising department, spent most of the

time during the convention entertaining visitors. They
report it by far the most successful exhibit of its kind
ever put on by the company.
The Chicago Musical Instrument Co , which staged
the display of Martin band instruments and Bacon
banjos, is also distributor for a number of other
standard lines, including Ludwig drums, C. F. Mar-
tin string instruments, Hohner harmonicas and ac-
cordions and a complete line of accessories and musi-
cal merchandise. This house reports splendid busi-
ness during the convention.
