MUSIC SCHOOL HEAD
PRAISES THE LESTER
S. F. Hirtz, of Johnstown College of Music,
and Students, Highly Delighted with Grand
Bought from North Piano Co.
Letters of commendation for their pianos are al-
ways appreciated by piano manufacturers, but when
the letters come from judges of piano tone, pianists
lows received recently, the position of the writer
gives the words additional strength:
Johnstown, Penna., March 8, 1925.
Mr. George Miller,
President of Lester Piano Co.,
1306 Chestnut Street,
Philadelphia, Pa.
Dear Mr. Miller:
Although I do not know you personally, I take
this opportunity of thanking you for manufacturing
a Grand Piano of great power and beauty at mod-
erate price.
The six-foot Lester Grand which I ordered from
the North Piano Co., arrived two weeks ago.
I am more than satisfied with it.
For years I have searched for a piano containing
a bass of power and quality and I have found it in
your six foot Lester Grand.
The tones of the treble are beautiful and silvery.
All my pupils are delighted with my Lester Grand.
I recommend your marvelous piano to everyone
interested in a first class instrument.
Wishing you continued success, I am
Sincerely yours,
(Signed) S. F. HIRTZ.

veloping proficiency in their pupils, the letters are
considerably more valued. Voluntary testimonial
letters to the Lester Piano Co., Philadelphia, are
frequent and in every instance due value is placed
upon the writer and the words. In a letter which fol-

The annual "public service" under the auspices of
the Illinois Chapter of the American Guild of Organ-
ists is announced for Tuesday, May 19, at 8 p. m.,
at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Evanston, 111. It is
the concluding concert of a series of eight commu-
nity affairs given each year at St. Luke's under the
direction of Herbert E. Hyde, in an effort to give
music lovers an opportunity to enjoy organ music
at its best.
The members of the Guild who will give the pro-
gram are: Walter P. Zimmermann, organist of the
First Church of Christ Scientist of Chicago, and of
the Chicago Symphony Orchestra; Arthur C. Becker,
organist and choirmaster of St. Vincent's church, and
dean De Paul University School of Music; Herbert
E. Hyde, organist and choirmaster of St. Luke's and
dean Illinois Chapter American Guild of Organists.
The numbers are all first-rate organ music, includ-
ing a Joseph Bonnet group played by Mr. Hyde, who
studied under him; three of Mr. Zimmermann's own
manuscripts; and a classical and modern group by
Mr. Becker.
They will be assisted by St. Luke's vested choir
of forty voices which will sing two unaccompanied
eight-part choruses from the Russian liturgy, and
other songs.
FRANCIS BACON PIANO
FOR SOUTHERN CHURCHES
Nace's Music Stores, Representatives of Bacon for
State, Adds to List of Bacon Sales.
Two of the newest and finest churches in Mary-
land, the Wesley Chapel at Hempstead and the
United Brethren Church, at Greemount, have just
acquired Bacon pianos. Nace's Music Stores, Inc.,
a prominent Bacon dealer and one of the largest
piano houses in the south, placed both the instru-
ments. The choice of the Bacon by these churches
is another tribute to its remarkable record. With a
history dating back to Washington's first administra-
tion, the Francis Bacon piano still ranks high in the
estimation of people who want the finest.
The reputation of the Francis Bacon is an enviable
one. It is the choice of countless schools and
churches. Every week finds new houses of educa-
tion and worship asking for this piano. The esteem
of such discriminating purchases is a tribute to the
entire Francis Bacon line.

BUSH & QERTS 'MIDGETTE'
IS BETTER THAN EVER
So Says Expert Who Was for Nineteen Years
Factory Superintendent of the Old Fac-
tory, a Former Chicago Industry.
In view of the interest which has attached to the
recent change in control of the old Bush & Gerts
Piano Co. and its products, the following letter will
prove interesting to the trade:
Chicago, April 14, 1925.
Bush & Gerts Piano Company,
Rockford, Illinois.
Gentlemen: 1 just thoroughly examined one of
the late make of "Midgette" grand pianos which I
saw on the floor of one of your dealers. As the
maker of the first "Midgette," I always felt proud of
it and think it is the ideal grand piano for the home.
Furthermore, am pleased to say and have noted
that you have fully carried out your promise "to
make the 'Midgette' grands as good or better than
before."
,
Keep up this quality and you will surely succeed
to satisfy those who want a real grand.
Sincerely yours,
H. H. ARNOLD.
Mr. Arnold is widely known as a piano expert,
now western representative of the great piano supply
industry of Northwood Sounding Board Co., St. Paul,
Minn. He was for nineteen years superintendent of
the Bush & Gerts factory in Chicago. It was under
his supervision and largely by his skill, that the
"Midgette" grand was originally created. So that
his word will go a long way in verifying what was
said by Sales Director E. W. Furbush when that
gentleman took charge of Bush & Gerts distribution.
