WALTER KRAUSGRILI. AND HIS BALCONADES ORCHESTRA.
Hard work and capable direction is the sure for-
mula for the success of an orchestra as evidenced by
the place attained by Walter Krausgrill and his Bal-
conades Orchestra of San Francisco. This orchestra
is recognized as one of the best of the many capable
organizations that have come into fame on the Paci-
fic coast during the past few years.
And because of the thousands of tourists who an-
nually visit San Francisco, the Balconades Orchestra
has gained a reputation that is practically national
in scope. The members of the orchestra are care-
fully chosen for individual ability as well as for their
particular fitness for the orchestra as a whole.
Mr. Krausgrill as well as the members of his or-
chestra have the highest praise for Martin Hand-
craft Instruments with which several of the players
are equipped. That the excellent playing of the
orchestra is aided by the instruments of the Hand-
craft brand, is a fact that Mr. Krausgrill freely voices
among the professional players he encounters.
BAND SCHOOL A SUCCESS.
Continued success of its band instrument school is
reported by the Kesselman-O'Driscoll Co., Milwau-
kee. The pupils range in age from about 10 years up
to adult age and even some men in the forties have
joined the classes. The school is conducted in con-
nection with the band instrument department under
the management of A. E. Borgeson, and there are
about eighty students in the classes which are mak-
ing rapid progress under special teachers.

MORE DATA ON BRASS GOODS
Useful Booklet of Bridgeport Brass Company,
Bridgeport, Conn., Gives Prices, Weights, Etc.
The Bridgeport Brass Company, Bridgeport, Conn.,
has issued a new data book containing prices and
weights of sheet brass, brass rod, wire, condenser
tubes, and seamless brass and copper tubes. It is a
useful addition to new trade literature. Copies may
be obtained free on application to the Bridgeport
Brass Company.
The company was first to realize the limitations of
the age-old pit-fire casting methods, and to secure
freedom from these limitations by the development
and installation of an electric furnace casting shop.
All "Bridgeport" brass is now electric furnace brass.
Closer temperature control, closer mixture control
and much more intimate mixing, made possible and
easy by the use of the electric furnace, assure a uni-
form and dependable product.
