S. Simon in Trip to Eastern Points Makes a Large
Number of New Customers.
S. Simon, manufacturer of the Cleo line of strings
at 8106 Chappell avenue, Chicago, is on a business
trip to New York where he has extended the num-
ber of his customers in that city. Mr. Simon is
making New York a center in a drive for new cus-
tomers in the territory in New York, New Jersey
and Connecticut accessible from that city. The Cleo
line and the Black Diamond and Bell lines recently
added by him make an array of string offerings very
alluring to dealers.
The Cleo counter show case continues to be a
great inducement to dealers to add the line of strings.
In its new form it has glass on all sides, thus clearly
showing the contents. Dealers readily admit it in-
duces sales in a lively way. Mr. Simon took a north-
ern route in going to New York, stopping off at the
larger cities and will return by a more southern
route.

It ought to make American radio fans feel good
to read the tariff imposed upon listeners-in in Lithu-
ania, which is as follows:

domes, and newspaper offices where news received
will be published for the public, $10; banks and other
institutions for commercial purposes, $200; cafes,
moving picture theaters, restaurants, and places of
amusement, $100; for receiving sets installed in
places where an admission fee is charged the daily
tax for each apparatus installed is $2.50.
Dealers in radios who install receiving sets in their
places of business are required to pay a yearly tax
of $200.
For registering and sealing each imported or locally
produced receiving set or its parts the producer or
buyer must pay $1.50 for each receiver, $1 for each
amplifier, and 10 cents for each tube.
Radio receiving sets or parts of sets which are not

WALTER KRAUSGRILI. AND HIS BALCONADES ORCHESTRA.
Hard work and capable direction is the sure for-
mula for the success of an orchestra as evidenced by
the place attained by Walter Krausgrill and his Bal-
conades Orchestra of San Francisco. This orchestra
is recognized as one of the best of the many capable
organizations that have come into fame on the Paci-
fic coast during the past few years.
And because of the thousands of tourists who an-
nually visit San Francisco, the Balconades Orchestra
has gained a reputation that is practically national
in scope. The members of the orchestra are care-
fully chosen for individual ability as well as for their
particular fitness for the orchestra as a whole.
Mr. Krausgrill as well as the members of his or-
chestra have the highest praise for Martin Hand-
craft Instruments with which several of the players
are equipped. That the excellent playing of the
orchestra is aided by the instruments of the Hand-
craft brand, is a fact that Mr. Krausgrill freely voices
among the professional players he encounters.
BAND SCHOOL A SUCCESS.
Continued success of its band instrument school is
reported by the Kesselman-O'Driscoll Co., Milwau-
kee. The pupils range in age from about 10 years up
to adult age and even some men in the forties have
joined the classes. The school is conducted in con-
nection with the band instrument department under
the management of A. E. Borgeson, and there are
about eighty students in the classes which are mak-
ing rapid progress under special teachers.
