PRESTO
January 17, 1925.-
George H. Bolduc is manager of the band instrument
department, and he has been active in organizing and
equipping several bands.
The band which provided the musical feature for
the opening event was the North Platte Fire Depart-
ment Saxophone Band, an organization entirely
equipped by Mr. Bolduc.
The organization of this band was a remarkable
achievement that shows the energy of Mr. Bolduc,
who is also a band leader. Ninety days ago not one
of the twenty members could play a note, but now
it is said that their playing ranks with many organi-
zations of longer standing. It has twenty members
and they have been carefully trained under the direc-
tion of Mr. Bolduc.
BIG CALLS FOR MAY BELLS
Fine Line of Banjos Made by Slingerland Banjo Co.,
Chicago, Commands Trade.
A fine start for 1925 is reported by Slingerland
Banjo Co., Chicago, and success in distributing the
line is assured. It had been necessary to speed up
production in the factory to supply the holiday de-
mand for the.banjos, and the weeks following Christ-
mas showed no let-up in the urgent calls.
The manner in which the Slingerland May Bell
banjos have been received by the trade and custom-
ers again proves a real value will always succeed.
The Slingerland tenor banjos are recognized as
good values, an "dthe manner in which they are made
and finished interests the discriminating customer.

PLANS RADIO EXPOSITION
Big Events for 1925 Announced in Circulars
by Management of Show of National
Character in Chicago.
A national radio exposition will be held October
24 to 31 inclusive, in the new $10,000,000 American
Exposition Palace, 666 Lake Shore Drive, Chicago.
The management of the National Radio Exposition
will be vested in a committee composed of one repre-
sentative for each exhibitor working in conjunction
with the International Trade Exposition Company.
This is the same manner in which many other trade
expositions are handled.
The Proposition.
"That manufacturers have been seeking and hoping
for a means of regulating radio expositions is evi-
denced by the statements made in many letters which
we have received, commenting favorably on our plan
for the National Radio Exposition," is the state-
ment of the management.
"That no manufacturer would assume the leader-
ship in promoting a co-operative radio exposition is
due, no doubt, to the fact that they recognize, as in
the manufacture of radio products, it requires spe-
cialists. The expert exposition manager can avoid
many pitfalls which the inexperienced man would not
recognize until the damage had been done.
The purposes of the exhibition and the tentative
plans are outlined in a folder of" the National Radio
Exposition managers:
Where the exhibitor desired to give actual demon-
strations with receiving sets or loud speakers, an en-
closed or sound-proof booth would be provided. For
those having parts and accessories an attractive open
booth would be furnished.
The sound-proof booth or enclosed booth is not a
new idea. It has been used successfully by the Music
Trades Exposition. By this arrangement the dealer
may be taken into a booth and hear reception and
then walk across or down the aisle to other exhibits
and make his decision before leaving the building,
thereby saving time and money for all concerned.
Manufacturers could have a portion of their exhibit
soundproof and the balance open.
Play to "Class."
It is no longer a question of getting crowds into a
radio exposition, but the thing that is going to count
in the future is "The Quality Buyer." It will be
our aim to play to "Class." The building and its
location and surroundings argue in favor of quality
attendance. And still, with all this, you would not
be able to keep the crowds from pouring in.
The sound-proof booth will enable the better class
to inspect and have demonstrated to them the vari-
ous sets and loud speakers, sitting comfortably in an
exhibit without being jostled with the throngs pass-
ing through the aisles.
At the close of the National Radio Exposition, the
exhibitors' committee operating independent of the
International Trade Exposition Company would meet
and select a certified public accountant to check over
all accounts of the exposition. Sixty days after the
close of the National Radio Exposition the Interna-
tional Trade Exposition Company to rebate fifty per
cent of the net profits accruing from all sources such
as space rentals, admissions, concessions, etc. The
amount to be rebated would be prorated according to
the amount each had paid for space. Other indus-
tries participate in the profits accruing from trade
expositions, so why should the radio industry be the
exception. Your contract for space has a clause

above.
The Management.
A publicity bureau is maintained by the National
Radio Exposition management. This bureau is in
charge of competent writers who have been schooled
in exposition publicity. This is a very valuable de-
partment in promulgating publicity of benefit to the
industry. The staff of writers are at your disposal
twelve months of the year.
They have definite instructions not to write articles
about ourselves, as individuals or as an organization,
as we feel that all newspaper and magazine space
should be devoted to the industry, or men identified
with the industry. We are content to have the satis-
fied exhibitors as our press agents.
In the organizing and management of the exposi-
tion, the International Trade Exposition Company
would enter into a contract with each exhibitor re-
stricting the liability, if any, solely to our company.
