NEW PIN GAUGE FOR TUNERS
Difficulties in Naming Right Size When Ordering
Eliminated by New Device.
For many years tuners have been obliged to send
samples of tuning or center pins to the manufacturer
in order to secure proper sizes for repair work. This
difficulty has been eliminated by a special gauge, now
offered by Lyon & Healy, Chicago. This shows the
actual sizes of all center pins, properly numbered;
also the different thicknesses of tuning pins. This
permits the turner to know immediately what size
pin he needs after he has removed the old one from
the piano.
As for center pins, where they are needed in the
action part, and because of being loose, the tuner may

from the combination tuning pin and center pin gauge
and then pick the next size larger or the next two

NEW CHINESE HYMN RECORDS.
The Victor Talking Machine Co. has issued a series
of four records of gospel hymns in Chinese sung by
Theodore B. Tu in the Chinese-Mandarin dialect. In
issuing the records the company announces that ac-
cording to the 1920 census there were over 60,000
Chinese in the United States widely distributed, and
that as many of these Chinese residents are members
of the American Sunday School, Mission or Bible
Classes, there should be a certain demand for records
of the gospel hymns.

Old Chicago Musical Merchandise Jobbing House
Finds Larger Space at 629 S. Wabash Avenue.
The Tonk Bros. Co., Chicago, ha? taken a long-
term lease on the sixth floor a*t 629 South Wabash
avenue, and will move from its present location at
323 Sovith Wabash avenue, when the necessary re-
modeling plans are completed. The additional space
gained in the change of locations prompted this old
musical merchandise-jobbing house to leave the old
quarters.
The Tonk Bros. Co. proudly points back to over
thirty years of successful jobbing in musical goods.
The house is a big importer of choice musical mer-
chandise and its stock of foreign and domestic violins
and other orchestral and band instruments has been
expanding rapidly in the past few years. In the new
quarters the company will have added advantages to
continue justifying its slogan, "Service-Quality."

inspected and tested instruments for the Government;
therefore, I feel that I am in a position to give expert
opinion regarding quality of musical instruments.
"I can truthfully say I now own and have had for
a lengthy period a Martin Handcraft trumpet. It
is in my estimation an instrument that I would term
in a 'class by its own.' They are easy blowing,
possess the beautiful voice-like tonal quality and
workmanship and material are superfine, which means
they will stand the abuse generally given. There-
fore, if you want a real instrument, get a Martin
Handcraft. You will always be satisfied."
