A VARIED Q R S CATALOG
Music Merchants Accorded Opportunity of Wide
Selection of Instrumental and Word Rolls.
The Q R S Co., Chicago, has released a very com-
plete and interesting catalog containing a wide variety
of player rolls from which the dealer has an excel-
lent opportunity to make a selection suited to the
player roll department.
The catalog is in itself a very attractive book show-
ing pictures of a number of the great artists who re-
cord for the Q R S Company and the list of rolls
include the individual playing of the world's best
pianists.
A complete list of rolls released to June 1, both
word and instrumental, are arranged alphabetically
and a list of artists arranged in similar fashion and
the rolls by each are a feature of the catalog.
In a pamphlet accompanying the catalog a number
of special releases of foreign rolls are given, a re-
minder to dealers to stock up with rolls of this na-
ture in an effort to stimulate player roll and player-
piano sales among the foreign born citizens.

from abroad at least equal, and in some years great-
ly exceed, the domestic production.
Wool production in Australia of the 1922-23 clip
ranged around 600,000,000 pounds, compared with be-
tween 700,000,000'and 720,000,000 pounds, the average
for the five years 1909-13. The New Zealand clip in
1922-23 is estimated at about 167,000,000 pounds com-
pared with around 186,000,000 pounds in 1914, and
with 199,000,000 pounds in 1918. Statistics on Argen-
tine production are not available, but the numbers
of sheep and exports indicate that wool production
declined during the war, the department says.
Production in the United States was about 266,-
000,000 pounds last year. Each of the heavy import-
ing countries, the United Kingdom, France, Germany
and Belgium, took less wool in 1923 than during the
preceding year and also much less than the 1909-13
average. While United States imports for the calen-
dar year 1923 increased nearly 9 per cent, the im-
ports during the past six months were much less
than for the corresponding period 1923.
BANDS AID SALES.
The bands now in training at the band school of
the Kesselman-O'Driscoll Co., Milwaukee, Wis., are
progressing in a manner satisfactory to Mr. Gier-
ach, manager, and should be ready for public per-
formance by next fall. In addition to the brass and
reed bands for men and women, the company is also
instructing a saxophone band, banjo band, string or-
chestra and a ukulele club.

The recent opening of the American Furniture
Mart at 633 Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, was marked
with attractive exhibits of phonographs and radio.
The Vitanola Phonograph Company displayed its
products in a spacious showroom on the eighth floor
of the building in a very effective manner. The
showing of the combination phonograph and radio,
known as the Vitaradio, was a big feature of the dis-
play and was the center of attraction of the visitors.
The Cole & Dumas Music Company, Chicago, is
occupying a large showroom on the fourteenth floor
and is a complete line of phonographs and radio, in-
cluding the Pooly phonograph and radio, the Atwater
Kent radio and the Kodel portable radio.
MAHOGANY LOGS DELAYED.
There has been but very little movement in the ex-
portation of mahogany and other timber from the
Manaos, Brazil, district owing to the fact that it
has been practically impossible to float the logs
down the rivers because of low water, according to
Vice Consul James H. Roth, Manaos, Brazil, May 16.
A great deal of timber has been cut and is lying
along the river banks waiting for high water, and the
greater part of it will have to remain there until
next year's rainy season.

The last meeting of Talking Machine and Radio
Men, Inc., for the summer, was held on July 16, at
the Cafe Boulevard, Broadway and Forty-first street,
New York City.
The first public presentation of a new idea in radio
(to be ready for the fall trade), and which it is
claimed will revolutionize the radio business, was
demonstrated and explained by George Crouse, presi-
dent of the Rader Appliance Company, who spoke
on a radio power device, which will supplant A, B
and C batteries and will work on any radio set on
either alternating or direct current.
There was a talk by James W. Marx on a new
kind of installment insurance. Also a report made
by the Entertainment Committee on the Outing of
August 6. In addition there was a demonstration of
new songs and various other matters of importance
to the trade.
Felt Prices to Naturally React to Conditions of
Production and Imports.
No increase in world wool production is in prospect
in the immediate future, due to a decrease in the
number of sheep in seven countries that produce more
than half the world supply of wool, declares the
United States Department of Agriculture. World
stocks are also reported at a low level and compara-
tively small clips are coming in, the department says.
Latest estimates of numbers of sheep in countries
having 1,000,000 or more sheep aggregate 499,380,000
sheep as compared with pre-war estimates of 568,-
617,000 sheep, according to the department figures.
Imports of wool into the United States have
steadily increased until we now import at least twice
as much as the average for 1900-04, and supplies
