NEW TONKBENCH FOR EXPORT
Piano Seat Designed for Shipment to Foreign Coun-
tries Is Simple and Well Constructed.
In the latest issue of Tonk Topics, the new Tonk-
bench K-D 88, designed especially for export trade,
is described as being the most efficient investment for
aggressive dealers in sections of the country where
the freight rates have been a barrier, and it is also
going to solve the problem of piano seats to accom-
pany American-made pianos that are being exported
to all parts of the world.
Tonkbenches have been used for export trade for
many years and are quite well known in foreign
markets.
The Tonk Mfg. Co., 1912 Lewis street, Chicago, has
experimented until at last it has developed a K-D
construction that is absolutely "fool proof" and so
simple that a nine-year-old boy can set it up exactly
as it should be.

BUSY BUSH & LANE BRANCH
Two Items of News From Portland, Ore., Concern-
ing Activities in Progressive Store.
The small goods department of the Bush & Lane
Piano Co., of Portland, Ore., was visited during the
past week by Vic Meyers, of the Vic Meyers orches-
tra of Seattle, who recently made several recordings
for the Brunswick which have not yet been released.
The Vic Meyers orchestra is an exclusive Holton or-
ganization and the Bush & Lane small goods depart-
ment is an exclusive Holton department. E. J. Mey-
ers, manager of the department, was given an oppor-
tunity of hearing the new records which he says
will surely make a hit.
Miss Emma Reynolds has been placed in charge
of" the record department of the Bush & Lane Piano
Co. of Portland, Ore. Miss Reynolds was for seven
years in charge of the record department of the
Hyatt Talking Machine Co. and is one of the most
popular young ladies in the business and has a large
clientele. She takes the place of Miss Mildred Kling-
ingsmith, who resigned on account of her marriage.
NEW LOS ANGELES COMPANY.
IMPORTANT
More than 90% of all
Martin Instruments are
sold through dealers.
Write for Particulars.
The K-D 88 looks just the same as a permanently
assembled Tonkbench. The leg fasteners are con-
cealed. The joint is as strong as if it were one piece.
It will stand the side strain as well as any similarly
appearing Tonkbench.
It is estimated that the new Tonk piano seat will
cut freight rates from 30 to 50 per cent, which should
be practical inducement to live dealers everywhere.
The California Record Manufacturing Company,
with headquarters at 703 Southern California Music
building, Los Angeles, is specializing in personal re-
cording from which it selects talent, vocal and in-
strumental The company is equipped with a com-
plete plant for making records. The officers of the
organization are H. P. Fay and A. E. Suerkert. They
have been associated in the record business, jointly,
for a number of years.
AFTER STUDENT'S TRADE.
Violin outfits are advertised by Long's Music
House, Pasadena, Cal., as a bid for the violin student
business. The outfits include violin, case and bow.
The importance of music in the public schools and
the creation of a great number of private orchestras
has given an impetus to this feature of the business of
Long's Music House.
THE CELEBRATED
0. S. KELLY CO.'S ACTIVITY
Every Department of the Big Piano Plate Making
Plant Shows Evidences of Good Business.
The O. S. Kelly Co., piano plate manufacturers,
Springfield, O., is now experiencing the benefits of
the increased facilities afforded by the additions to
the offices. The new offices occupied recently were
planned to suit the special requirements of the com-
pany whose needs for office space in a constantly
growing business had been plain for some time.
The occupation by the company of the new offices
released valuable space, which is now utilized by a
manufacturing department of the plant. The stimu-
lation in all departments of the O. S. Kelly Co.'s
plant reflects the activity in piano factories. Active
piano plate making in the plant of the company has
always been taken as an accurate indication of a
similar satisfactory condition in the piano factories.
The O. S. Kelly Co. was among the first to report
optimistically when the piano industry began to re-
turn to normal. The cheerful evidences of a busy
piano industry are apparent all over the plant and the
good business in piano plates for fall and winter,
assured some time ago by A. L. Kelly, president of
the company, is being realized.

HELPED BY COLUMBIA ROLLS
Columbia Music Roll Co. Tells Why Line Is Back-
ground of Busy Roll Department.
NOT ONLY
do we specialize in the very best of
piano and organ supplies, including
hammers, felts, cloths, punchings,
wedges, and straight hardware, such as
hinges, tuning pins, music wire, cast-
ers, piano tools, player stock, etc.
BUT
we are also speed specialists when it
comes to the handling and filling of
your orders. Our large stock and
modern methods enable us to do so.
A lively roll department is one of the best assur-
ances for more playerpiano sales. A line of rolls
that has the element of timeliness, clever recording
and reasonable prices is one of the most effective
means towards keeping up the interests of the player-
piano owner in his instrument. Those are the views
of the Columbia Music Roll Co., 22 S. Peoria street,
Chicago, which calls the Columbia Word Rolls "the
background of a busy roll department." The effect
of a good roll department of the playerpiano sales is
considered obvious.
These are some of the brief claims of the Columbia
Music Roll Co.: "The rolls are made of the best
materials obtainable.
Will please your trade and
double your sales. Quality and price make Columbia
rolls the dealer's best profit producer in a roll depart-
ment."
