Music Publishers in Anaheim, Calif.
H. W. Hatch has returned to Anaheim, Calif., after
an absence of several months and assumed charge
of the sheet music and small goods department of the
Anaheim Music Company. He will carry stocks of
music from all of the important publishers. While in
New York recently Mr. Hatch made arrangements
with the American representative of foreign publish-
ers for distribution in his vicinity.
'
Anaheim was first selected by Mr. Hatch as an
ideal community in which to develop a business
catering to music lovers. He has had considerable
experience in the sheet music business, having been
associated at one time with the Hatch Music Com-
pany and later the Schirmer Music Store in Los
Angeles.
HYMNS OF HELL.
[Chicago Eve. Post.]
I have never sung, and never will sing, a
hymn about Hell.—Dr. Henry Van Dyke in Chi-
cago Daily News.
SMALL blame, Doctor: there are few good ones.
The best, no doubt, is that which was a hit in the
trenches in the second year of the World-War. Even
the conchies here thought well of the glorious finish—
O Death, where is thy sting-a-ling-a-ling?
O Grave, thy victoree? . . .
The bells of Hell go ting-a-ling-a-ling
For you, but not for me!
PHIL PONCE HITS.
Phil Ponce, the hustling head of the Ponce Pub-
lications, 1658 Broadway, New York, has returned
from a middle-western trip that proved everyone
along the line was waiting to see him. He made ar-
rangements with all the prominent dealers for a big
window display at Hallowe'en of the novelty hit, "The
Cat's Whiskers." "Rub Off Your Wrinkles with a
Smile" is the slogan now of the Benson Orchestra,
Ray Miller, Dan Gregory, Coon-Saunders, Arthur
Lange and other leading orchestras.
REMICK FAVORITES.
"Louisiana" and "Beside a Babbling Brook," two
winners from the list of Jerome H. Remick & Co.,
are big sellers in Black's Music Store, Indianapolis.
Of course "Barney Google" is another of the hot
favorites but this Remick success is considered
among the things that sell automatically. But the
continuation of warm favor for the two first named
songs is a matter of great satisfaction to the depart-
ment manager.
