F. Reilley of the department, assisted by Alice Levina

The concert was such a success that the apple valley

day during the two weeks of the fair, and the firm
lined up many excellent prospects and made some

MUSIC CHAMBER EXPANDS

Alfred L. Smith, General Manager of Chamber,
Elected Band Association Secretary.
At a special meeting of the Band Instrument
.Manufacturers' Association held in Elkhart, Ind., on
Wednesday, August 1, plans were completed for an
enlarged scope of activities of the association, and
Alfred L. Smith, general manager of the Music In-
dustries Chamber of Commerce, was elected secre-
tary of the association.
For the past few years the management of the
activities of this association has been in the hands of
its officers, particularly the president, C. D. Green-
leaf of the C. G. Conn, Ltd. However, the affairs of
the association have become of sufficient conse-
quence and the work involved has become so great
that in the opinion of members the time has come
for a regular secretary who would devote sufficient
time to the work and an established office as head-
quarters.
The election of Mr. Smith as secretary and the
use of the Chamber headquarters as the headquarters
for the Band Instrument Manufacturers' Association
will throw more work upon the Chamber. This,
however, is one of the facilities which the Chamber
is organized to provide for its member associations.
In view of the increased demand for service which
band instrument manufacturers are now placing upon
the Chamber, they voted to increase their previously
accepted assessment of $3,000 annually to $6,000
annually.
