ADVANCE ROLLS FOR AUGUST
The advance bulletins of rolls for August are now
either in the hands of dealers or are being made ready
for prompt mailing to the trade. The music roll
manufacturers are well aware of the advantage of
bridging the gap between the factory and the ultimate
consumer at the earliest possible date. The longer
the interval before the announcement of the rolls and
the actual presentation of the goods to the prospec-
tive buyers the greater is the ease of selling.
"Tell the roll customers what you have and let
them decide what they want," is a rule with the most
alert dealers. The advance bulletins suggest to the
playerpiano owners what they are going to want.
The music merchant knows that the greatest aid to
sales of playerpianos and reproducing pianos are the
rolls when properly handled by the dealer. It is
clear the rolls must be sold if the dealer is to profit
by carrying the stock, and it is also understood that
the rolls require prompt and continuous exploiting
every issue of the bulletins. The advance numbers
are plain invitations to the dealers to get busy.

Luxe Player Roll Corporation, New York, for that
month are confined to light classics and dance num-

Ten Popular Numbers Comprise Another Winner in
the August Offerings.
A return order post card of the Columbia Music
Roll Co., 22 S. Peoria street, Chicago, has a notice
of an August advance roll which says: "Rome wasn't
built in a day, but here's a roll that will build profit
today! Everybody wants to hear it." The contents
of the roll follow:
"Roll No. O-637.—Beale St. Mama, fox trot; Crazy
Over Me, fox trot; Holding- Hands, fox trot; The
Girl of the Olden West, waltz; In a Tent, fox trot;
When Clouds Have Vanished, fox trot; If You Are
as Lonesome as I Am, waltz; Sun Kist Rose, fox
trot; My Old Ramshackle Shack, fox trot; Eddie
Steady, fox trot and one step.
"Roll No. O-633 will help it along-. Don't forget
to order it too,", is the final advice.
A BOARDMAN & GREY AGENCY.
W, T. Lyle, of Waukesha. Wis., has received a
new stock of pianos from Boardman & Grey, of Al-
bany, X. Y. Several of these instrtfments are now
on display in the Lyle show rooms in Waukesha. It
is always a pleasure to note the interest of retailers
in such pianos as the Boardman & Gray, which was
at one time prominent in the trade and should be so
again.
STERLING DEVICES CHANGE.
The entire business of the Sterling Devices Co.
has been taken over by the Sterling Devices Mfg.
Co., who will continue to manufacture the Sterling
line of phonograph tone-arms and reproducing at-
tachments, radio headphones, etc.
A National Music Exposition is announced to be
held in the Mechanic's Building", Boston, November
26 to Dec. 1. The president of the enterprise is H.
L. Katz and a handsome' prospectus has been issued.

The Davega chain of talking machine and sporting
goods stores and the stores of John Lurie, Inc., are
now operated in New York and New Jersey as
Davega-Lurie stores. There are now six of the
stores in the metropolitan district. The officers are
S. B. Davega, president; H. S. Davega, vice presi-
dent, and John Lurie, chairman of the board.
