The activities of the school bands and orchestras
in the state of Iowa have notably increased the inter-
est of pupils in musical goods. The state has an
association of school bands which has done wonders
in arousing the local spirit to excel in music every-
where. The annual contest of the State High School
Musical Association was held in Rockford last week
and it has further stimulated the sales of musical
merchandise.

FIDDLE CONTEST HELPS BUSINESS.
The sale of violins in Davenport, la., has been
stimulated in a notable way by the forthcoming "Old
Fiddlers' Contest," which will be broadcasted. All
the music dealers in Davenport and other Iowa cities
have been featuring violins for some time, and at the
same time doing their best to advertise the fiddling
contest.

A group of world-famous band soloists graces the
advertisement of C. G. Conn, Ltd., Elkhart, Ind., in
the Saturday Evening Post of May 5.
The Johnson Music Co., 6102 Penn avenue, East
Liberty, Pa., has closed a lease on a new location for
its rapidly growing business.
The Mount Pleasant Music Shop, Washington,
D. C, was recently opened at Fourteenth street and
Park road.
Herman Lemler, the Bourbon, Ind., music dealer,
has moved his business to a new building recently
purchased by him.
Clarence Sisco has succeeded Munn & Sisco in
Sturges, Ky.
Myers & Mooney is the name of a new business
in Columbus, O., composed of Glenn L. Myers and
P. F. Mooney. The firm carries music goods and
radio sets and supplies.
D. M. Hooker, Hoopeston, 111., will soon move to
new and larger quarters.
M. Michaelson recently opened a new music store
on Peter street, Uniontown, Pa.
