SELLS REGINA PATENTS.
The word "Regina," which at one time suggested
a music box and later a phonograph, is now applied
to a vacuum cleaner. The Regina Corporation which
formerly manufactured music goods and talking ma-
chines has disposed of its patents in talking machines
to the Regina Phonograph Corp., Rahway, N. J.
The Regina Corporation now confines its activities
to vacuum cleaners and the company is said to be in
a very healthy state.

Members of Talking Machine Men, Inc., Ask for Aid
in Opposition to Measure.
At the last meeting of the Talking Machine Men,
Inc., a resolution was adopted that each member
should write to the assemblyman and senator of his
district requesting their aid in opposition to Assem-
bly Bill No. 125, which was considered extremely ob-
jectionable to the interests of the association. The
passage of this bill means that in case of default by
any customer who has moved elsewhere, the dealer
will have to commence action in the city or town
where he is located causing him endless trouble
and additional expense.
The State Trade Commission Bill which was'passed
by the Senate recently has been defeated in the As-
sembly, but it may be reconsidered. Therefore, mem-
bers were requested to write to their Assemblyman
notifying him of their personal objection to this bill.
"If you do not know the name of your Senator or
Assemblyman, kindly call up the Merchants Associa-
tion in New York City, and you can obtain the in-
formation, or refer to the World Almanac, page 489,"
was the advise to members who were asked to send
E. G. Brown, secretary, a copy of the letters written
and any answers received for the further use of the
association.

Self-Lifting Piano Truck Company Sees Unmistak-
able Signs of New Season's Activities.
Tn the spring the ambitious piano dealer's thoughts
turn to ways of doing business that may make his
efforts more effective—and reduce the overhead. The
overhead is a profit-eater and the smaller the dealer
gets his overhead the greater will be the profit on the
business accomplished. Shrewd buying and more in-
tensive methods of selling are, of course, foremost re-
quirements in assuring profits, but labor-saving in de-
liveries is another means to greater profits in the es-
timation of the wise dealers who have invested in the
trucks of the Self-Lifting Piano Truck Co., Findlay,
Ohio.
Today a great many music dealers consider their
equipment would be incomplete without the un-
doubtable labor-savers of the Findlay manufacturers,
the trucks for handling pianos and talking machines.
There is a line of sill and end trucks for pianos and
playerpianos and Lea trucks for talking machines.
With the Lea Talking Machine Truck one man can
handle machines of the largest size like the Edison
Chippendale, Victor No. 17, Cheney Queen Anne or
any other large make, from their warerooms to any

The Chart Music Publishing House, 26 Quincy
street, Chicago, has brought out a chart to aid be-
ginners in saxophone playing. It instructs in the
proper fingering of the instrument and shows the
relation of the notes to the keys. Illustrations make
the descriptions easy to understand. The chart in-
cludes a method for transcribing 'cello music which
is written in the bass clef, into saxophone music writ-
ten in the treble. This is for use where musical com-
positions contain no parts written for the saxophone.
The chart is proving interesting to amateur saxo-
phone players everywhere, according to the pub-
lishers.
REACH HIGH VIOLIN PRICE.
What is said to be the highest price ever paid for
a violin is 1,402,350,000 marks or $30,000, which, ac-
cording to a dispatch from Paris, was the sum paid
by a Berlin collector for the Stradivarius master
"Titian." This instrument was made in 1715. In
1870 it came into the possession of a Bostonian

FRED SEIBERLING HONORED.
Fred Seiberling, of the Seiberling-Lucas Music
Co., Portland, Ore., was re-elected vice-president of
veterans' organization of the Marine Band, formed
in 1885. The e l e c t i o n took place at the an-
nual meeting and banquet at which twenty veterans
attended. The veterans' organization has a member-
ship of 150. Ralph V. Hoyt, head of the band for
many years was re-elected president, Virgil Coomer,
secretary, and Capt. Henry Hockenyos, treasurer and
historian.
SMALL GOODS STOCK INCREASED.
Expansion of the wholesale musical merchandise
department is planned by H. R. Eisenbrandt Sons,
Inc., 417 North Howard street, Baltimore, Md. The
stock has already been enlarged and some of the
space formerly utilized for' talking machines has been
allotted to the musical merchandise goods.
American banjos have five strings, but it does not
set the style for the rest of the world in that re-
spect. In some countries the banjos are made with
six strings and other countries equip the so-called
banjo with as many as nine strings.
