The Seiberling-Lucas Music Co. started in business
in 1909 on a small scale and has increased its space
as business justified so that now it has one of the
most complete stores in the Northwest with a ten-
year lease, and as Mr. Lucas says, "with a corps of
loyal employes and resources of a million and a
quarter behind us we anticipate still greater growth
in the next ten years."
The Seiberling-Lucas Music Company, Portland,
Ore., had a formal opening of the new establishment
at 151 Fourth street on February 23, under very fa-
vorable circumstances. A musical program was

Progressive Ohio Music Firm to Occupy Old Quar-
ters of Aeolian Co., When Remodeled.
The Anderson Piano Co., Dayton, O., which re-
cently purchased the local branch of the Aeolian Co.,
114 North Main street, will move from 111 East
Third street to the store of the Aeolian Co., when
remodeling plans have been completed. The Ander-
son Piano Co., which has been capitalized for $100,-
000, will continue to carry the lines handled by the
Aeolian Co., which include the Steinway, Duo-Art re-
producing piano, Weber, Steck, Wheelock and Aeo-
lian pianolas. In addition the Anderson Piano Co.
will carry the C. Kurtzmann, Packard, Milton and
Mehlin pianos, Q R S rolls, phonographs, band in-
struments, including Ludwig drums.
C. L. Anderson, head of the Anderson Piano Co., is
an admirable type of piano man who knows what he
wants and proceeds along the lines of industry and
straight dealing until he reaches it. His first associa-
tion with the business was with the old Fetterly
Music Co., in Dayton. And in the interval between
his first event in the business and the latest one as
purchaser of the Aeolian Co.'s interests in that city,
with some of the most prominent business men of
the city as his associates, he has learned the piano
business practically from the ground up. In addition
to being a keen-minded man of business, Mr, Ander-
son is also an expert repairman and tuner, and a
salesman of the highest type.

C. C. Miller Piano Co., Fort Worth, Installs Instru-
ment in Show Visited by Thousands.
A Gulbransen playerpiano has been provided for
the Home Beautiful Exposition promoted in Fort
Worth, Tex., by the Record of that city. It was in-
stalled by the C. C. Miller Piano company, 402
Houston street, and played no small part in the en-
tertainment of the many hundreds of visitors who
thronged the home for the formal opening and for
subsequent occasions. In noting the fact the Rec-
ord said:
The Gulbransen is made by the Gulbransen-Dick-
inson company of Chicago—a company headed by a
man who has had fifty years' experience in the mak-
ing of musical instruments—a company that stands
second to none in its field.
Mr. Gulbransen has done more than any other man
to develop the player piano industry from the me-
chanical to the artistic, and when he discovered a real
genius by the name of John Martin he engaged him
for an entire year to visit the 800 Gulbransen dealers
in the United States to show them that the Gulbran-
sen was different, and to interest them in the use of
the Martin instruction roll for the Gulbransen.
These instruction rolls enable the person who does
not understand music to play with such artistic effect
that it cannot be detected from hand playing.
STARR LINES SHOWN AT
KANSAS CITY EXPOSITION
Pianos, Phonographs and Gennett Records Consti-
tute Great Attraction at Home Making Show.
One of the foremost attractions in the Better
Monies and Building Exposition recently held in
Kansas City, Mo., was the booth of the Starr Piano
Co., which was in charge of A. J. Robinson, the local
manager. The large line of the Starr Piano Co.,
Richmond, Ind., was notable among the big exhibits
in the great Convention Hail.
The visitors were impressed in a particular way
1 y the fine display of Starr pianos, including Starr
grands in three sizes. The triumphs o-f the Starr
pianos at the great competitive expositions at Cincin-
nati Industrial Exposition in 1880, the Chicago
World's Fair in 1893, the International Exposition in
1897, the St. Louis Exposition in 1904, the Seattle
Exposition in 1909, the Panama California Exposition
in 1915 and others were told about in the award evi-
dences and honors on the walls of the booth.
The Starr Phonograph in its many styles sugges-
tive of appropriate places in artistic homes was a big
feature of the display. The tonal qualities of the
phonograph were well demonstrated with the use of
Gennett records, which too were specially displayed.
